Funny thing is....a zillion years ago when I came to the USA, no one played basketball. It was a girls game in school called "netball". a few months after I arrived and happened to see a basketball game - I thought to myself...what a bunch of pansies...men playing netball...and those short, tight 70s pants. LOLOLOL. Culture differences can be interesting.
