UB declines only bowl invite

The UB players in 1958 voted not to go to the Tangerine Bowl if it meant that two black teammates would not be allowed to play because of segregation laws. Pretty profound story that has been forgotten over the years. That 1958 team will be honored at the Homecoming game this year. Let's hope UB can mark the anniversary with their own bowl bid in 2008.

What a great story...thanks for the link. I first heard about this when I was going to UB and it made me damn proud then, and it still does today.

Ok-who wins- Bulls Vs Bills???

If you're asking which game will I go to Aug 29th, it's the UB home opener. I figure I'd rather see a game that counts than a pre-season game, even if it is the NFL.

I read about this last week and was going to post and forgot all about it. It truly is an amazing story....

I wonder if this story has the potential to be turned into a book or movie?

At a minimum, this story is perfect for pick up by the national media. ESPN should do a piece on it, at a mimimum (though since it involves something to do with Buffalo, they'll likely figure out a way to put a negative spin on it :wallbash: ).
