ieatcrayonz Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Jackson Browne --- Fountain of Sorrow. Looking through some photographs I found inside a drawer, I was taken by a photograph of you. There were one or two I know you would have liked a little more, but they didn't show your spirit quite as true. You were turning 'round to see who was behind you and I took your childish laughter by surprise, and at the moment that my camera happened to find you, there was just a trace of sorrow in your eyes. Throw down the lyrics that are meaningful 2 u . Awesome. The next few lines of that song are even better: The sorrow in your eyes showed up on your eyelash a week or two later you went off to film Splash I warned you not to do it but still I took the rap when you got back from filming out of you I beat the crap
loyal2dagame Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Mama told me when I was young Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say. And if you do this It will help you some sunny day. Take your time... don’t live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you’ll find love, And don’t forget son, There is someone up above. (chorus) And be a simple kind of man. Be something you love and understand. Be a simple kind of man. Won’t you do this for me son, If you can? Forget your lust for the rich man’s gold All that you need is in your soul, And you can do this if you try. All that I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied. (chorus) Boy, don’t you worry... you’ll find yourself. Follow you heart and nothing else. And you can do this if you try. All I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied. (chorus) Lynyrd Skynyrd/Deftones Simple Man

ExiledInIllinois Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 When it came to Springsteen diddys, I was always partial to his The River work and: Point Blank Point Blank Do you still say your prayers little darlin' do you go to bed at night Prayin' that tomorrow, everything will be alright But tommorow's fall in number in number one by one You wake up and you're dying you don't even know what from Well they shot you point blank you been shot in the back Baby point blank you been fooled this time little girl that's a fact Right between the eyes, baby, point blank right between the pretty lies that they tell Little girl you fell You grew up where young girls they grow up fast You took what you were handed and left behind what was asked but what they asked baby wasn't right you didn't have to live that life, I was gonna be your Romeo you were gonna be my Juliet These days you don't wait on Romeo's you wait on that welfare check and on all the pretty things that you can't ever have and on all the promises That always end up point blank, shot between the eyes Point blank like little white lies you tell to ease the pain You're walkin' in the sights, girl of point blank and it's one false move and baby the lights go out Once I dreamed we were together again baby you and me Back home in those old clubs the way we used to be We were standin' at the bar it was hard to hear The band was playin' loud and you were shoutin' somethin' in my ear You pulled my jacket off and as the drummer counted four You grabbed my hand and pulled me out on the floor You just stood there and held me, then you started dancin' slow And as I pulled you tighter I swore I'd never let you go Well I saw you last night down on the avenue Your face was in the shadows but I knew that it was you You were standin' in the doorway out of the rain You didn't answer when I called out your name You just turned, and then you looked away like just another stranger waitin' to get blown away Point blank, right between the eyes Point blank, right between the pretty lies you fell Point blank, shot right through the heart Yea point blank, you've been twisted up till you've become just another part of it Point blank, you're walkin' in the sights Point blank, livin' one false move just one false move away Point blank, they caught you in their sights Point blank, did you forget how to love, girl, did you forget how to fight. Point blank they must have shot you in the head Cause point blank bang bang baby you're dead.
BLZFAN4LIFE Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 It was raining hard in 'Frisco, I needed one more fare to make my night. A lady up ahead waved to flag me down, She got in at the light. Oh, where you going to, my lady blue, It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain. She just looked out the window, and said "Sixteen Parkside Lane". Something about her was familiar I could swear I'd seen her face before, But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken" And she didn't say anything more. It took a while, but she looked in the mirror, And she glanced at the license for my name. A smile seemed to come to her slowly, It was a sad smile, just the same. And she said, "How are you Harry?" I said, "How are you Sue? Through the too many miles and the too little smiles I still remember you." It was somewhere in a fairy tale, I used to take her home in my car. We learned about love in the back of the Dodge, The lesson hadn't gone too far. You see, she was gonna be an actress, And I was gonna learn to fly. She took off to find the footlights, And I took off to find the sky. Oh, I've got something inside me, To drive a princess blind. There's a wild man, wizard, He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind. Oh, I've got something inside me, Not what my life's about, Cause I've been letting my outside tide me, Over 'till my time, runs out. Baby's so high that she's skying, Yes she's flying, afraid to fall. I'll tell you why baby's crying, Cause she's dying, aren't we all. There was not much more for us to talk about, Whatever we had once was gone. So I turned my cab into the driveway, Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns. And she said we must get together, But I knew it'd never be arranged. And she handed me twenty dollars, For a two fifty fare, she said "Harry, keep the change." Well another man might have been angry, And another man might have been hurt, But another man never would have let her go... I stashed the bill in my shirt. And she walked away in silence, It's strange, how you never know, But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for, Such a long, long time ago. You see, she was gonna be an actress And I was gonna learn to fly. She took off to find the footlights, And I took off for the sky. And here, she's acting happy, Inside her handsome home. And me, I'm flying in my taxi, Taking tips, and getting stoned, I go flying so high, when I'm stoned. Harry Chapin Taxi Well Ive been out walking I dont do that much talking these days These days-- These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do For you And all the times I had the chance to And I had a lover Its so hard to risk another these days These days-- Now if I seem to be afraid To live the life I have made in song Well its just that Ive been losing so long Ill keep on moving Things are bound to be improving these days These days-- These days I sit on corner stones And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend Dont confront me with my failures I had not forgotten them Jackson Browne These Days When all the dark clouds roll away And the sun begins to shine I see my freedom from across the way And it comes right in on time Well it shines so bright and it gives so much light And it comes from the sky above Makes me feel so free makes me feel like me And lights my life with love Chorus: And it seems like and it feels like And it seems like yes it feels like A brand new day, yeah A brand new day oh I was lost and double crossed With my hands behind my back I was longtime hurt and thrown in the dirt Shoved out on the railroad track I've been used, abused and so confused And I had nowhere to run But I stood and looked And my eyes got hooked On that beautiful morning sun Chorus And the sun shines down all on the ground Yeah and the grass is oh so green And my heart is still and I've got the will And I don't really feel so mean Here it comes, here it comes 0 here it comes right now And it comes right in on time Well it eases me and it pleases me And it satisfies my mind Van Morrison Brand New Day

I like that song because it reminds me of the things that are important in life. I have a tendency to be pessimistic and when I hear that song, I realize how good I have it. Here's a couple more that I like: The words had all been spoken And somehow the feeling still wasnt right And still we continued on through the night Tracing our steps from the beginning Until they vanished into the air Trying to understand how our lives has led us there Looking hard into your eyes There was nobody Id ever known Such an empty surprise to feel so alone Now for me some words come easy But I know that they dont mean that much Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch You never knew what I loved in you I dont know what you loved in me Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be Awake again I cant pretend and I know Im alone And close to the end of the feeling weve known How long have I been sleeping How long have I been drifting alone through the night How long have I been dreaming I could make it right If I closed my eyes and tried with all my might To be the one you need Awake again I cant pretend and I know Im alone And close to the end of the feeling weve known How long have I been sleeping How long have I been drifting alone through the night How long have I been running for that morning flight Through the whispered promises and the changing light Of the bed where we both lie Late for the sky Jackson Browne Late For The Sky It is the springtime of my loving - the second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing - so little warmth I've felt before. It isn't hard to feel me glowing - I watched the fire that grew so low. It is the summer of my smiles - flee from me Keepers of the Gloom. Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune. Ain't so hard to recognize - These things are clear to all from time to time. Talk Talk - I've felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go. I cursed the gloom that set upon us... But I know that I love you so These are the seasons of emotion and like the winds they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion - I seek the torch we all must hold. This is the mystery of the quotient - Upon us all a little rain must fall...It's just a little rain... Led Zeppelin The Rain Song
Da Big Man Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Reading these lyrics and thinking about their meaning, it makes me see what a powerful medium music is. Whether it was a cabin we owned as kids, rollin in our first car or a girlfriend we had as a teenager. Music can always return you to that point in time. In your mind you can see the scene, in your ears you can hear the sounds and the smells ... you could swear to God you could almost taste it. In the immortal words of Gene Simmons " Loud wanna hear it loud, right between the eyes." For those about to rock, we salute you !!!!

Here is one of my favorites: Learn to Fly Run and tell all of the angels This could take all night Think I need a devil to help me get things right Hook me up a new revolution Cause this one is a lie We sat around laughing and watched the last one die I'm looking to the sky to save me Looking for a sign of life Looking for something to help me burn out bright I'm looking for a complication Looking cause I'm tired of lying (trying) Make my way back home when I learn to fly I think I'm done nursing the patience It can wait one night I'd give it all away if you give me one last try We'll live happily ever trapped if you just save my life Run and tell all the angels that everything is alright. . . Fly along with me, I can't quite make it alone Try and make this life my own
The Senator Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Y'know, my python boot was too tight I couldn't get it off last night A week went by, an' now it's July I finally got it off An' my girl-friend cry "You got STINK FOOT! STINK FOOT, darlin' Your STINK FOOT puts a hurt on my nose! STINK FOOT! STINK FOOT! I ain't lyin', Can you rinse it off, d'you suppose?" One of the finest musicians to ever pick up a guitar - the legendary, late, great Frank Zappa... Link - freakin' awesome live video If you're local, or visiting the BuffTown this week, you'd be crazy to miss 'Zappa Plays Zappa' at Thursday At The Square... Info link
