R. Rich Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 This guy is a class act and deserves what he's getting from the Terps. Without the big guy being hired, they'd still be working overtime on ideas just to get that stadium half full!
RCow Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Friedgen and Williams -- hard to beat that combination. This should really help recruiting since it pretty much guarantees Ralph is the coach for sometime. It'll also help if they can get at least one player drafted in the first round every year. Who do you think we start at QB. My bet is Steffy -- he's got the tools and even though he's a freshman his grasp of the system can't be that far behind the other two. Especially since Ralph simplified the playbook. Did you catch Ralph in the Underarmour commercial? Hometown owners using the hometown coach. Thought he did a great job.
Mark VI Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 What are the Terps averaging, attendance wise ? Back in the 80's when I went to several games, the place was half empty. With the improved team , has it changed ?

Not near capacity of VT, FLST, Clemson, and, God knows, not Penn State. Though if it keeps up they may add 10K-15K seats, still not huge, but considering recent history. . . (Terps basketball 18K sold out for the next generation). This year, three of six games already are sold out. The first game vs. N. IL a virtual sell out, but the second game vs. Temple will probably fall a bit short though likely a walk-up sellout by game time. The last game on the schedule is home against Wake -- if they're doing well it should sell out (though I think it's Thanksgiving Day weekend - no students).

Was very pleased to see them win it all in basketball a couple years ago. Now the Football program is doing well. Go Terps !

They had one of the top recruiting classes in the country for football this past year, so they should be okay for a while.
