USMCBillsFan Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 What a freaking awesome site. I ordered a case of Chiavetta's and there it was, like a shining light, SPONGE CANDY!!! One of my absolute childhood favorites and I was just talking about this stuff with my wife last week. I love Buffalo...and can't wait to get my order. Thank you to whoever turned me on to this site. I'm sorry I can't remember who it was.
stevewin Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 A couple years ago I sent my brother in Fla a bunch of Beef on Weck from there. The package has 'Perishable' all over it - my brother wasn't home until the next day and his wife just left it out for him - didn't realize that 'Perishable' meant you might want to open it up and refrigerate Was in Buffalo a couple weeks ago for the NE game - last thing we usually do on the way to the airport is stop at Antoinette's in Lancaster - get some ice cream and stock up on sponge candy and orange chocolate. We usually give some to neighbors if they are watching our house - they actually look forward to it now. Funny the first time people get sponge candy and have no idea what it is...

My Grandma used to always have a candy dish full of it for me every week when I'd go by to do my work for her. (shovelling, washing windows, etc...) Such great memories and it's weird how a candy can bring so many back. I miss my Grandma. R.I.P...
R. Rich Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Although it isn't exclusively a Buffalo product, I spent $35 on a case of Saranac Root Beer recently.
