/dev/null Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 http://cbs2chicago.com/local/bennigans.res...n.2.782428.html Where will soccer moms take their kids for the birthday and cheap husbands take their wives for their anniversary?
buckeyemike Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Best potato soup I've ever had. I think it's only the corporate owned Bennigan's that have closed...the franchised ones are apparently still open, according to the article.

If they don't trust their meat why should I? Never went back. and you pansies...lay off the meat comments
Booster4324 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Steak & Ale closed too. I worked at the one here in town for 6 years. It was profitable actually. Kinda sad I won't ever get to see the place again. I still know some people that work there, there was of course no warning for the employees.
Chef Jim Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 They refused to cook me a burger medium. If they don't trust their meat why should I? Never went back. and you pansies...lay off the meat comments I hate that shiit! I want my burger medium rare. I've told them I'd sign a waiver. What the hell!
Beerball Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I've told them I'd sign a waiver. What the hell! I told the manager the same thing, he didn't budge.
Chef Jim Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I told the manager the same thing, he didn't budge. Whenever I make burgers at home (or anything with ground beef for that matter) I leave some out raw. A little truffle salt and a little fresh ground black pepper. Mmmm-mm-mmmm.
SDS Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I hate that shiit! I want my burger medium rare. I've told them I'd sign a waiver. What the hell! because it's !@#$ing disgusting that is why. You take all the bacteria that resides on the OUTSIDE of the meat - and you grind it all the way through so it is one big slab of disease, and then you want to eat that? If you want to eat red meat - eat a steak.

It is not against the law, but I wouldn't serve undercooked ground meat in a restaurant either. Besides, it doesn't even taste good (to me I guess). It's like someone pre-chewed a steak and spit it in your mouth. The texture is just awful.
mead107 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I can remember when at my grandparents (40 years ago )I would eat raw hamburger with salt and pepper on it . No one got sick . You can NOT tell me that it was safer back then .

So your only choices were medium-well or well-done? Wonderful...

I've never heard of a place that would not cook the meat the way the custoemr wants it (except Peter Lugers, they will not serve a well done steak). This is odd. I do avoid these chain restaurants like the plague, however.

mead107 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Wow. I can remember eating headchease with my grandfarther on a plate . Oil and vinagar on it .

Just Jack Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Back on topic... "I am really shocked, because there was no indication that anything was wrong," regular customer Donna Wimes said outside the North Michigan Avenue location. "The food was good; they always seemed to generate a crowd." The one in Syracuse closed a couple years ago. The wife and I went on a Tuesday night, and noticed Thursday night when driving by the lights were off and a closed sign on the door.
