Here that buys you a decent house (no mansion), private school tuition, car payments, saving for college, saving for retirement, and a couple of vacations. Here in Rochester, I think you can live comfortably on less than $100K. A cape cod 900 sq ft fixer-upper house that goes for $250K in North Haven CT would easily sell here in an equivalent neighborhood for under $80K.
