Fewell733 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 http://buffalobills.com/blog/index.jsp?post_id=3602 I know Toronto is the main concern at this point but I tend to think the NFL doesn't prefer to have a lot of franchises moving around in a short amount of time.
Beerball Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Chris Brown reporting on a Nick Canepa story in the SD Trib. It's just one reporter's opinion, but he's done a lot of fact gathering to make it. Nick Canepa of the San Diego Tribune believes with the lease deal up for the Chargers on Qualcomm Stadium in January and no viable new stadium options in San Diego there's a good chance they'd leave town. Brown linkage
Lori Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/canep...-1s1canepa.html Good column. He messed up on one point, though: USC just signed a 25-year lease that specifically prohibits an NFL team from moving to the Coliseum without their permission.
Lori Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Temporarily, until a 20th 21st-century stadium can be built. Hey, he wrote it, not me.
R. Rich Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Temporarily, until a 20th 21st-century stadium can be built. Hey, he wrote it, not me. Built where? In their parking lot? Oh wait. I keep forgetting how plentiful lots huge enough to accomodate a stadium and all the trimmings are in California. Pretty cheap, too.
Billadelphia Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Built where? In their parking lot? Oh wait. I keep forgetting how plentiful lots huge enough to accomodate a stadium and all the trimmings are in California. Pretty cheap, too. There's actually a huge stretch of nothingness along the coast between San Diego & LA, but I'd imagine that they'd want to build it in one of the cities.
San-O Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 There's actually a huge stretch of nothingness along the coast between San Diego & LA, but I'd imagine that they'd want to build it in one of the cities. That's Camp Pendleton. Federal land.
Billadelphia Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 That's Camp Pendleton. Federal land. Ah that makes sense. I just remember driving through there and almost falling asleep about 10 times.

GhostsOfTheRockpile Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/canep...-1s1canepa.html Good column. He messed up on one point, though: USC just signed a 25-year lease that specifically prohibits an NFL team from moving to the Coliseum without their permission. Money talks. U$C would GLADLY share the Coliseum with an NFL team if the price was right. Especially considering it would be a temporary move while a new stadium was built. Don't forget the guy who wants to build a state-of-the-art stadium in City of Industry, just outside LA.
BuffaloBlood Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 And if things go well by the Year 2026 the league will expand by adding the London Blitzkreig......... wait that still may be too soon to be in good taste.
PromoTheRobot Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Mayor benches NFL plan, wants Trojans in Coliseum But anyone can build a stadium with their own money, like the guy in City of Industry. He and Spanos are buddies. LA is to SD as Toronto is to Buffalo...except we'll get to keep some games. PTR
Fan in San Diego Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Ah that makes sense. I just remember driving through there and almost falling asleep about 10 times. Thank god they own it, otherwise it would be a sea of condos and 7-11's and you would not even see the ocean.
todd Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Brown leakage? Ewwwww! Must have gone to Tahou's and had a combo plate. :-)
