Bishop Hedd
As someone who has dealt with many pro athletes in Buffalo over the years I think it will be a given nothing will happen to Mr. Lynch. Reason 1...nobody wants to talk. Reason 2...see reason 1. So a Canadian woman from Toronto sues over an incident...and this will do what....give her about a 20,000 dollar settlement...if that? Oh..so now her injuries are a little bit above uncomfortable (according to her newly signed Buffalo lawyers) so jack it up another 20 grand then what? Unfortunately for her she's foreign..walking along a heavily traveled road for cars and peds..on a stormy early morning at 4AM. What was her condition at that time. Like I've always been saying for the past ten years Chipwa sux.

OCinBuffalo
What's so funny? I think it is a valid point if she is stating that she may want help with medical bills. At the time, I was thinking how funny/ironic it would be if she actually sues Lynch for American care precisely because of what you and Lori were saying. In essence, after all I have heard about the "wonders" of the Canadian health care system(from the clueless), one thing this could boil down to is the fact that a Canadian would rather sue to get better care and/or not have to stand in line, by getting care in the US. I can only imagine the minor meltdown it would cause socialists to go through. That, given a real choice, "free" health care provided by Canada or "free" health care provided by Mr. Lynch or, to be fair, whoever hit her, she would sue to get Mr. Lynch's care, is a direct and poignant shot at them. Especially when you consider that she wouldn't probably see the money for a least a year after all the legal wrangling. This poor girl could end up going from just going out, to poster girl for the health care debate. I laugh at the ridiculous and that would be ridiculous. Mickey
I think what everyone'f forgetting here is that Marshawn is barely all of 22 years old and not at all versed in things like this. He doesn't have the experience or maturity at that age to tell his advisors to shut up and do the right thing here--he's been very poorly served by them, IMHO, but when you don't have experience in something it's much easier to just "rely on the experts" as I suspect he's doing here. Problem is, his lawyer seems to be a bush league hack (for ex., his firm doesn't even have its own website or even a listing in Martindale-Hubbell, which all decent sized firms have at a bare minimum). I'm a lawyer myself (albeit on the corporate side) and can tell you, the bar is made up of all kinds--from extremely competent to guys who you wonder how they ever graduated from college much less law school or pass the bar. I'm very curious as to who hooked Marshawn up with his attorneys (his agent, perhaps?), as whoever it was doesn't seem to know what he's doing either. This could have been handled with minimal mess when it broke and instead they've turned it into a 3-ring circus, much to their client's and the team's detriment..... I have no idea if his atty is an idiot or not. You have to wonder about a guy not even in Maritindale. Apart from the skills or lack thereof of his atty, I do however think that there is very little proof that the DA was willing to mop this up quick with a plea to a violation with a hefty fine/comm. service. Lynch had his atty meet with the DA as soon as the guy was able to get to town. The DA hinted all the while that it was no big deal, a plea and a fine, etc. Then, when the atty met with them and asked for the plea before Lynch talked, they told him "No way." The choice then was to trade the only bargaining chip Lynch has, information as to what happened, with no deal in place on the table. That is not how it is done. The DA tells you, if this is what happened blah, blah, blah, we will plead it to such and such. The guy then tells his story but if he lies or the story doesn't check out, the deal is off and they can go for whatever charges the proof merits. The whole point of a plea is to get a lesser charge in exchange for admitting guilt and forfeiting your right to a trial. The DA, to my knowledge, never committed to that. In fact, the published report is that he refused to do so without first getting all the information from Lynch. There is no way on earth Lynch would not, if he was in fact the driver, jump at a plea to a violation with a fine + comm. service. The reason the deal hasn't happened is because it hasn't been offered.
Adam
This is such a stretch-Implying that suing the person who ran you over with an SUV and then drove away is somehow an indictment of Canadian health care is pretty lame. Its not. We are trying to prevent this person from victimizing Lynch and other Buffalo Bills....Lynch should consider suing her for damage to the SUV. For all we know, she knew that they were going to be driving down that road, and intentionally stood in their path
Buftex
First of all, why do you say she is suing when both of the articles specifically mention that no decision on suing has been made. But more importantly, what has she got to hide? Why doesnt she come out and admit she was drunk and not paying attention. Why doesn't she provide the actual notes and documentation from the EMT, the ER doctors and her own doctors. Its clear she is milking this and wants him to pay millions even if he wasnt driving. The moral thing to do is not hide behind her lawyers and come right out and admit that she wasnt really hurt and she screwed up implying that there was any pain or suffering. This silence is total bullschit. I'm ashamed of women and Canadians. This is what pisses me off about regular citizens. They think they can screw over rich and famous people. She needs to come clean right now and clear the air and answer all questions about why she sprinted across the street, dove into a car, and then laid on the street for a full quarter of an hour. Citizens make me sick to my stomach. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz I know you are trying to be funny, but isn't this getting tiresome?

Shpeley, 27, of Milton, Ont., A Canadian? what is a sweet person doing on the streets of Buffalo at 3:30 a. m?? According to WGRZ-TV, Channel 2, staffers of a nearby bar said the woman, who was lying in the street for about 15 minutes, got up on her own and walked to an ambulance. Police said she was treated for minor injuries.

The Senator
IMO, this latest development is an attempt to wrangle a financial settlement from Lynch by dangling the threat of a civil suit, and I would not be at all surprised if Herbie Siegel himself instructed Tim O'Connell to, "Go out and find that Canadien [sic] lush, tell her we'll take her case on contingency, and we'll win her enough loonies to buy her own Porsche Cayenne and a lifetime supply of Tastykakes!" No ambulance can outrun those scumbags at Siegel Kelleher & Kahn - I'm just surprised they were able to outrun Cellino & Barnes!
