METERED USE

Talk about a step backwards for technology...

Time Warner Cable had said in January that it was planning to conduct the trial in Beaumont, but did not give any details. On Monday, Leddy said its tiers will range from $29.95 a month for relatively slow service at 768 kilobits per second and a 5-gigabyte monthly cap to $54.90 per month for fast downloads at 15 megabits per second and a 40-gigabyte cap. Those prices cover the Internet portion of subscription bundles that include video or phone services. Both downloads and uploads will count toward the monthly cap

40GB cap? WOW.... In this day and age that is easy to reach in a week or so with all the video streaming out there...

Please please please Verizon get out to Cheektowaga and get FIOS up and running before this kicks in here ...

Mrs Rock said we got a letter in the mail from Time Warner with the bill, offering internet service at a reduced price.

I did not read the details, just told her to toss the "offer" away. I do not recall the details but it sounded liked a good price, but it also sounded like about 25% of the current speed.
