ofiba Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 This pretty much solidifies my stance on Bill Belichick. He's a cheater.
DC Tom Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 That was the response I was looking for. "Human interest" is considered "soft news", but still "news". Therefore, it is proper to call it a "news story". Human interest stories are only considered soft news by people doing human interest stories who wish they were doing the news. The rest of the world calls it schlock.
Cheeseburger_in_paradise Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 At least they weren't throwing coke cans at the passers by.

DC Tom Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Academics also consider it soft news. No doubt journalism professors...like I said, people who WISH they were doing the news.
Chilly Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 No doubt journalism professors...like I said, people who WISH they were doing the news. Gubmint professors studying the media too actually.
DC Tom Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Gubmint professors studying the media too actually. Do you realize precisely how many things are wrong with that statement? Shouldn't they be studying the government? Do they know that there really is no Fourth Estate?
Chilly Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Do you realize precisely how many things are wrong with that statement? Shouldn't they be studying the government? Do they know that there really is no Fourth Estate? Uh, yeah, of course they know that there is not really a fourth estate - that was a fundamental tenant of the classes on the media that I took. And its pretty important to study the media in a government program, as that is the primary method that candidates get campaign time, the manipulation of public opinion using the media, the manipulation of public opinion, the job of the press secretary, etc.
