Chilly
Sweet, Amazon shipped out Palahniuk's new book to me this morning, called Snuff. Description from Publisher's Weekly: Palahniuk's audacious ninth novel tells the story of Cassie Wright, an aging porn queen who intends to put an exclamation point on her career by having sex with 600 men in one day on film. The story begins with Mr. 600—the pornosaur who introduced Cassie to the business—as he describes the other 599 actors awaiting their moment on screen. The perspective then shifts to Mr. 72, an adopted Midwestern 20-something who is one of the many young men claiming to be Cassie's long-lost son. Mr. 137, a has-been television star hoping to revive his career, wants to ask Cassie's hand in marriage so that the two can star in a reality TV show. But for a novel centered around a gargantuan gangbang, there's surprisingly little action; the small amount of narrative movement takes place backstage, where the characters attempt to get a sense of one another while waiting for their number to be called. Ramius
Sweet, Amazon shipped out Palahniuk's new book to me this morning, called Snuff. Description from Publisher's Weekly: Anyone else getting it? this is the first i've heard of it, but i may have to get in when i finish the current queue of books i am reading. Looks as if it has the makings of another twisted palahniuk novel.

Buftex
Is no one else a Palahniuk fan? And if not, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE I have read "Fight Club" and "Choke"...I loved them both. I have always wanted to read more, but I find myself reading less and less as of late...I have been muddling through a book called "Flight" by Sherman Alexie. An old friend of mine gave it to me as a b-day gift, she swore I would love it...I am trying, I really am...I just am not feeling it... Speaking of books, and Chuck Palahniuk, has anyone ever read "A Fan's Notes" by Frederick Exley? It kind of reminds me, a little, of Pahlaniuks' work. A bit earlier. The first CP book I read was "Choke", and it reminded me of Exleys' book. Great, great book...the follow up, not so good. But, I think a lot of people on this board would appreciate "A Fan's Notes". I had heard rumour, a few times over the years, a movie was in the works, but, thankfully (probably) plans fell through. "A Fan's Notes" follows an alcholic teacher, from job to job, as he tries to cope with alchohol and the world. It is dark, and very funny. The thing that threads the book together, is his love/obsession with the NY Giants (football), back in the days of YA Tiddle, and Frank Gifford. Some of the rituals this guy had for the games were pathetic/hilarious. Some of it hits too, uncomfortably, close to the bone.

Chilly
Just got done reading it. Definitely a quick read, but I do think the overall structure of the book has some commentary built into it. I liked it. It was far from being my favorite book, but hell, it was pretty entertaining. I'd say that, while not even close to his best, it was worth the read.
