zevo Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I have this huge rhododenron in my front yard that has not bloomed in 3 years, but it has flower buds on it. Why wont it bloom? It bloomed 3 years ago but not since.

Bill from NYC Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 what will that do? The acid, unlike regular Miracle Grow, is very good for flowering shrubs.
the_franchise Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Make sure you cut it back every year. It could also have a fungus problem if its in an area that the water doesn't drain very well. There are some other chemicals you can pick up at your local nursery to help you with the problem. I'm sure if you went to one you could get a better "expert" opinion.
stuckincincy Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 The acid, unlike regular Miracle Grow, is very good for flowering shrubs. Certainly NOT all...
IDBillzFan Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Certainly NOT all... Oh, no. Here goes another Mir Acid versus Miracle Gro debate.
stuckincincy Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Oh, no. Here goes another Mir Acid versus Miracle Gro debate. pHuck you.
realtruelove Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Two other possible reasons 1. Not enough sun, they love sun. 2. Root ball is too deep. Remove mulch or wood chips around root ball.
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Two other possible reasons 1. Not enough sun, they love sun. 2. Root ball is too deep. Remove mulch or wood chips around root ball. If they love "sun"... How come you see them all over Seattle and the northwest?
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 They attract bumble bees. Pull it up. Bumble bees are good... Now yellowjackets are another story! As told by my 6 year old daughter that just read me the riot act for mowing the lawn yesterday... You know, ripping up all those "pretty" dandelions and cutting the "beautiful" purple flowers (creeping charlie)!
Steely Dan Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Oh, no. Here goes another Mir Acid versus Miracle Gro debate. Miracle Grow has more experience but hasn't proven itself over the five years it's been tried. Mir Acid is new and has shown some flashes of greatness but doesn't work very well late in the season when snow starts falling.
