Pete Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 A couple of my favorites not yet mentioned... Jack London, Martin Eden Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises Jack Kerouac, On The Road F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby The last 3 are 3 of my favorites as well. I have not read that London book, but really enjoyed White Fang. All other Hemingway books are brilliant too IMO and Dharma Bums is another great Kerouac book

All other Hemingway books are brilliant too IMO and Dharma Bums is another great Kerouac book Jack London is really an unappreciated author, beyond the obvious White Fang and Call of the Wild. If you want a good one for the summer, pick up Martin Eden. Many think its London's autobiography, as a struggling young writer. Here is a summary if you want, personally, I would just read it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Eden

(the jail was in the Black Rock area) London claimed afterward that it was his imprisonment in Buffalo and his witnessing of prisoner abuse that had made him a Socialist.
