I don't necessarily have a problem with drafting st's players. Although I feel in the recent past the bills have dedicated far too much to players who only profile as st's players, with zero upside. We'll see though.
MikeSpeed Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Bottomline is nobody -- no one from Mel Kipper to the people that read these boards to the Bills brass -- really know what kind of players draft picks will turn into. That being said, I think they had a real good draft. Picks 1 and 2 were dead on and three could be a steal if the player is motivated. As for the rounds 4 thru 7, it's a crapshoot for every team. Complaining about a sixth round pick is crazy. Outside of the Bills top two picks, watch out for Stevie Johnson. The kid has the hands and feet to be a regular contributor sooner rather than later. He might be the Bills biggest steal of the draft. We'll have to wait two years to find out though! I think the NFL should just stop the draft at 3 rounds. After all it's all ST'ers and camp folder atfer that anyway. We should be able to get those guys in FA. Unless the guy is a P or K or a return specialist then drafting for ST's makes zero sense for a team that had the one of the worst O and D in the NFL! If you are a stacked playoff caliber team, and just need to fill a couple of spots in the first few rounds, then yes use the later rounds to fill your ST's. The Bills aren't one of those teams yet.
