Kenmore Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I don't often but do like to read everyone's views when I have time. Today was one of those days. Maybe I'm in the minority but I liked our draft. Anyway, an article on aol sports had us as 1 of 3 teams with an A grade this weekend. It's only aol sports so take it for what it's worth......just a nice change of pace from the negativity. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/...ions-not/#cont

dave mcbride Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 No offense, but why do fans put any stock in draft grades when a) neither the writer nor the fan has seen most of the guys play in college; and b) neither the writer nor the fan has seen any of the guys play in the pros?
deep2evans Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 No offense, but why do fans put any stock in draft grades when a) neither the writer nor the fan has seen most of the guys play in college; and b) neither the writer nor the fan has seen any of the guys play in the pros? couldn't agree more. however, it's nice to get some recognition when we fill major holes with big name players, considering ESPN (minus Boomer) may have said "buffalo" a total of 3 times in 20 hours of coverage.
UticaBill Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Thanks for the link. I feel a little better somehow... I only gave us a B
DanInSouthBuffalo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Call me in three years and I'll give you a grade on this years draft.
Bmwolf21 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Thanks for the link. I feel a little better somehow... I only gave us a B Sorry, gonna need to see your resume before I can validate your grade.
Joe Miner Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I thought we were going to know our draft sucked when all the professionals gave us A's? We hate em when they hate us and love em when they love us.
Max Fischer Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I generally don't believe in Draft Grades (at least before one season is complete) but it's better to say "I hope they're right," than saying, "I hope they're wrong."

But Post-draft grades are silly good or bad. Give 'em a few years.
Steely Dan Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 No offense, but why do fans put any stock in draft grades when a) neither the writer nor the fan has seen most of the guys play in college; and b) neither the writer nor the fan has seen any of the guys play in the pros? It gives us hope and something to talk about! I thought we were going to know our draft sucked when all the professionals gave us A's? We hate em when they hate us and love em when they love us. Thanks Capt. Obvious.

Michael David Smith is generally one of the smarter writers. Hey, he grades the drafts for the NY Times.
