bernie
Why didn't we take Brad Cottam with are 3rd round pick. 6'8" 270 te from Tennessee was the way to go and it would have filled a need at TE. A backup DE we could have got in the 4th round or later.
bbfan54
The problem at the bills TE position is not depth but getting a top level player at TE. All the prospects with top level potential are already gone and the bills have 3 TEs that are as good or better than anyone they can draft at this point. Therefore, picking a TE would be poor value and stupid. It is unlikely the bills will get any starters from rounds 3-7 so they should go for depth and pick the best player available for all OL positions, 4th DE, Safety (Free and Strong), LB, WR, and possibly a backup QB if one falls. A backup DE we could have got in the 4th round or later. We could grab a TE with our late 4th or early 5th that is equally as flawed as Brad Cottam. Pass Rushing DE's are harder to acquire than TEs. I still like taking one later in the draft, but, if there is an equally rated OLB or OC/OG there in the 4th round, I would rather address those positions first.
