Bill from NYC Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I wish to be the first Bills Fan in 2008 to call for the firing of Dick Jauron. If I owned the team, I would fire him right now and have security escort him out of the war room.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I assume you're blaming Jauron for the two picks that many feel were A+ selections? PTR

We got the top rated CB in the draft, which our scouting department considers a top 10 player.

Sisyphean Bills Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Just to toss some gasoline on the fire: Did you realize that the Bills had the 30th offense and the 31st defense in the NFL last year? The worst offense and the worst defense in the AFC East. Even if you look at points per game, the only AFC East unit significantly worse that the Bills was the Dolphins defense. Offensively, the Bills just plain sucked, being near the bottom across the board. If it hadn't been for not turning the ball over, they could've easily made a run at Miami for the #1 overall. Yet, they picked last of all AFC East teams, even after the Patriots traded down. Not only that, but in a draft top heavy in OL and DL talent, the Bills walked away with two perimeter players.

Uh, other than Center the bills don't have a glaring OL need, and the good DL players were all taken before we could pick. And btw the fact that we were near last in offense and defense and still 7-9 shows that Jauron is a good coach.

Dammit - I like your moxy...very good....(though I am not sure what he has done, let's ax him to get the pendulum swinging again...I am a little bored myself with the good decision making going on these days.)

Depth is a luxury that the Bills do not need because they can run and stop the run so well with what they have and they never have any injuries.

THAT my friends is the difference between the top tier teams, not just talent but a team that believes in it's coaching staff and themselves.
Ramius Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 hmm. i didnt know dick jauron was the sole decision maker in the draft room. And i thought, according to you, that it was Marv making all the choices picking CBs.

Are you seriously suggesting we pick for depth rather than starters at 11? What world are you living in?

coltrane34 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Hey dummy he must be good enough to get a team with the 30th ranked offense and the 31st ranked defense to win 7 games last year. If offense or defense dosn't win the game for you it must be the coaching and gameplan, right? So You better start being nicer to Skelator because he has the power.
Fewell733 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Are you seriously suggesting we pick for depth rather than starters at 11? What world are you living in? that's what really gets to me about the draft lineman regardless of all logic folks. We have needs for a starting receiver and serious need for help at corner, and they want to pick players at positions of no need high in the draft. They assume that a 1st rounder will automatically upgrade NFL proven players like Brad Butler and Langston Walker, who both played very very well and are good NFL starters. games are won and lost in the trenches - but whenever there is a draw, we lose because on offense no one's open and on defense we can't cover their receivers

I am going to try to make a point. If JP Losman was the starter, how do you think that he would have been with another 1st round defensive back? Please be honest. In 06 he was young and needed help galore, and the Bills came away with Whittner, McCargo, Youboty and Simpson with the first 4 picks, thanks to that great combo of Levy and Jauron. In fact, I think Kyle Williams was the 5th pick. Does this sound smart to you? Now...fast forward to Trent. The Bills are an injury away from Duke Preston and/or Chambers, and their center is second rate. The same idiots ran past Branden Albert and took yet another 1st round defensive back. Do you think that Trent is happy? Do you think that it might have been a good idea to use their top resources to help and protect this young qb who has 9 or so starts? If I was Ralph Wilson, I would go to court and seek a stay away order of protection to keep these 2 losers away from my franchise.

We are one player away from being crappy at a lot of positions, most NFL teams are. That doesn't mean you draft for DEPTH at 11.... you can get a C/G in round 4 or 5. It's stupid to pass up glaring needs (especially when the player is top 10 rated) for depth, just for the off chance that one of our Offensive linemen go down.

AND you know what else, I'll give Jauron another year if we don't make the playoffs. I believe he's like coach Coughlin of the Giants. We need more time with Jauron.
