Huuuge Bills Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Trevor Scott BUFF selected by the Raiders! is that a first for the BULLS? First this year, not first ever. I think we took Haddad in the 7th a few years ago.
ans4e64 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I know we're entering best player available territory here late in the draft, but I think we've got to pick 2 o-lineman in our next 3 picks, and another WR for the 3rd pick.
ans4e64 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 draft so far 1) - top corner in the draft 2) - giant WR with great speed for his size - major red zone headache for defenses 3) - pass rushing defensive end - plays viciously 4) - ball hawking corner 4) - safe TE pick - good blocker, great hands - should be an excellent checkdown man 5) - undersized linebacker who flies around like a maniac and is good in coverage - instant ST's contributor I think you nailed it.
ans4e64 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 We need depth at OT bad, behind Peters and Walker we've only got Kirk Chambers. One tackle that isn't that good.

ndirish1978 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Mayock talking about the Jet's pick and said that Derek Fine was a good receiver and swallowed up all their underneath passes. Encouraging I should explain, the Jets took a Kansas WR and Mayock stated that he didn't get to see him catching anything underneath cause Fine caught everything there. Sounds like a nice safety blanket
Brandon Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I agree that the offense is still suspect, but unless they went OL in the first round, you aren't going to replace any starters via this draft for 2008 other than the #2 WR spot. Surely they are relying on the existing WRs to fill the #3 role. If they can't make significant improvement on offense this year, than either the line will still need more attention or there will be question about Trent being good enough. Meanwhile, you need more depth on the defense anyway due to schemes, and there was an obvious talent shortfall to address. In general, a team with a bottom 3 offense and a bottom 3 defense can't fill all the holes in one draft. I agree, none of these guys in R3-7 would start offensively this year, but they won't defensively, either. All could likely contribute, however. In the end, I think its just a circular argument where neither side is really wrong or right. I just think that its usually a mistake to go so heavily on one side of the ball the entire offseason when both need serious help. Oh well, nothing can be changed now. Hopefully, its for the best, but unfortunately, I still see this offense as being an anchor dragging this team down to 6-8 wins. Granted, that's what I expected anyway, but I'd hoped they'd add more quality prospects offensively who could step up in a year or two to claim starting roles. I really like Hardy, but I'm very concerned that they not only aren't going to get contributors at TE and C this year, in particular, but that this draft won't provide any help with those positions down the road, either. I hope I'm wrong about that, particularly the TE they picked, but I'm very concerned that this is the type of draft that really burns a weak team a few years down the road.

Sisyphean Bills Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 The team knows something that we don't I think. Can't wait to see who we will get. This reminds me of that spot on ESPN where the Jets fan is talking about Ken O'Brien and the Jets FO "knowing something we don't."
ans4e64 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I bet Trent is psyched with the pick Well I bet that Trent has no idea who the hell he is lol.

That is how I look at this draft too.
KD in CA Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 nice post. I am not sure what exactly our problem on offense is. I think our WR's are good- and Hardy will help out in the red zone. Our RBs solid, and our line is decent. We could use an upgrade at C. Fine seems like he will help out the TE/H-back postion. Our special teams are great, and our defense is much improved after this offseason. Like you said, we cannot fill every hole in one draft. But we did a good job addressing depth and needs. I think we are gonna be pleasantly surprised when we see this year's team play Thanks. I'm really hoping that a better #2 WR will open up the offense. Give Trent a big target, let Roscoe run deep as the #3 guy, open up the defense for Lynch. And you can't underestimate the potential impact of Trent having the first year under his belt. No rookie QB steps in and looks solid. If the line is giving him time, I expect to see real improvement there.
FightClub Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Watching ESPN they are convertingme to Mike Hart...you could do a lot worse than using the next couple of picks on players like Mike Hart and Jamie Silva
BRH Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 First this year, not first ever. I think we took Haddad in the 7th a few years ago. It's very possible that UB will have two players drafted (Scott and Jamey Richard) and Syracuse will have none. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that. Also, Ed Ellis, a defensive lineman, was taken a couple of years ago out of UB.

ans4e64 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 FWIW, my top three remaining players are: Doug Legursky, C Adarius Bowman, WR Paul Hubbard, WR Why the hell would anyone want Bowman or Hubbard on this football team? Do you watch football, or just follow names?
