This seems to be the weakest all around draft I can remember.

this time last year there were columns being written trumping this class as the draft of the decade.........it really isn't that bad........the lack of a clear cut #1 has taken the shine off it a bit, but it's a very deep draft

I've heard this draft referred to as a very deep draft. Tons of offensive tackles, WRs, TEs, and Corners. The fact that there are no top notch QBs probably makes you think it is weak at a glance, but I think this class is pretty deep.

Call any NFL scout and ask his opinion of this Saturday's draft and you'll get pretty much the same answer:

"It's not very good and not even as deep as the thoughts whirling through the mind of Paris Hilton." :D

This is a very strange draft if you ask me. Certain positions are quite deep while others are perilously thin. I think '05 was the most recent bad one, followed by '02 and 2000. In any given year there are going to be players who can improve your team, the key is selecting those players carefully. The best teams do this routinely.

This requires great diligence and a constant awareness of your team, your strengths, weaknesses and exact position in the marketplace.

I have been a draftnik since around 1980. I like this draft, and especially the depth at a few positions through round 4. Want to see a weak draft?

Check out this top 15-

2. Arizona Cardinals - Leonard Davis, OT Texas

3. Cleveland Browns - Gerard Warren, DT Florida

4. Cincinnati Bengals - Justin Smith, DE Missouri

5. San Diego Chargers (from Atlanta) - LaDainian Tomlinson, RB Texas Christian

6. New England Patriots - Richard Seymour, DT Georgia

7. San Francisco 49ers (from Seattle from Dallas) - Andre Carter, DE California

8. Chicago Bears - David Terrell, WR Michigan

9. Seattle (from San Francisco), Koren Robinson - WR North Carolina State

10. Green Bay (from Seattle) - Jamal Reynolds, DE Florida State

11. Carolina Panthers - Dan Morgan, LB Miami

12. St. Louis Rams (from Kansas City) - Damione Lewis, DT Miami

That's not that bad. Smith/Tomlinson/Seymour/Carter/Morgan/Stroud have all been/are pretty good players.

yeah they are. Top 3 picks were whiffs though. $10 million a year for a top 3 pick. I am just saying...
