Buftex
While it certainly is a lot more exciting to draft an offensive weapon with that #11 pick, Leodis McKelvin would appear to be a solid pick as well. It definitely fills a need (you can never have enough good db's), and the kid would have the distinction of having one of the coolest names in franchise history. All I am concerned with, is whether our #1 pick can play. That is not always a given...

I doubt McKelvin is even there. I'm not really a fan of taking a corner all that early. I think there's some good 2nd-3rd rd prospects. Still McKelvin is a very good player. One of the knocks on him, is he's not really a good zone corner. What is the fascination with Jordy Nelson? I've never seen him play. Most places don't have him rated all that high as a wideout. Is he a better prospect then say a Jerome Simpson, Doucet, Andre Caldwell? Kellen Davis? Does he have every other decent te gone by that point? He has the size, but eh. I really like Xavier Adibi. I thought he was a fantastic college lb, who just made plays. Great in coverage. Great range. Not a bad pass rusher, and a good tackler. His size may limit him in the pros. He's a cover 2 type lb. Compareable I'd say to a Boss Bailey. Never heard of/saw Curtis Johnson. Reading about him he seems like more of a 3-4 olb type. DE/OLB tweener. Pretty impressive statistically. His write ups make him seem like a guy who could be a good situational pass rusher. Personaly I'd prefer to adress dend much sooner, and hope for a starter. ROCCEO
Who has a cooler name, McKelvin or Sweed? Both very cool. I think its important to draft guys with good football names, Marshawn and Trent I feel fit that mold. Did anyone else see that video on NFL.com where Allen Wilson predicts that we will take Brandon Flowers? If that happens I may throw up. Flowers seems like a good prospect, especially for us, but not at #11, not even close. I'd rather have the 1st reciever off the board or an additional lineman than flowers at 11. McKelvin I could get excited about, maybe, but not not Flowers. Might cancel my season tickets if that happens.

frogger
say what you may, that would be a great draft. McKelvin and McGee would combine to be our McCorners. both are great returners, if either gets an Int we can expect great things. In the league were more and more teams are trying to spread defenses out, having 4 good corners is very important. James and greer are pretty good too. Jordy Nelson is already a fan fav here, having never played a single play in Buffalo, nor even being drafted by Buffalo yet. Davis, while I'd rather have Cottam, he has more natural talent than any other TE in this draft. He would hopefully reach his potential in Buffalo. I'd expect between 300 and 600 yards a year from him. Adibi, wow a lot of people have him going in the 2nd round. With Crowell coming off of an injury and in his last year of his contract this would make sense. and Johnson, good small school athlete we need depth at DE, he provides it. Here's why so many people are infatuated with Nelson. Basically he is Poz without the beginning talent. He's got tremendous character on and off the field and he is a big time overachiever! He works his ass off on the field and never stops. IIRC, he's a great blocker in the running game. He is a sleeper big time!

/dev/null
It's funny how everyone has different opinions at this time. 1. Leodis McKelvin (CB) - Not a bad pick, not the direction I would have went (DE or WR). But still not a bad pick 2. Jordy Nelson (WR) - If Nelson had either gone to a bigger name school than Kansas or had a slightly different skin pigmentation, he'd be an easy 1st rounder 3. Kellen Davis (TE) If he's there in the 3rd, take him! Don't think he will be tho 4. Xavier Adibi, (LB) A 4th round steal. Don't need a starter here, but BPA, ST contributor, and LB Depth 4B. Curtis Johnson, (DE) This has got to be the only mock draft including the 4th round posted on TSW that didn't involve Owen Schmitt

indiragandhi'sthong
From the sound bites I have heard, it seems like Modrak really likes McKelvin and I see no problem with that pick. He has good size, is extremely quick and is a factor returning kicks and punts. The way they looked at him at the senior bowl, was as the best CB there. Bills scouts seem to love Jordy Nelson. He has a history of making big plays against quality competition and certainly has excellent size. While I would rather see them take a Sweed or a Kelly, I think Nelson would be an excellent addition and a guy that has the attitude you look for - willing to do anything to help the team. I could live with those two picks and I can see them taking Kellen Davis in Round 3. By the time they pick, some of the better TEs will be gone and Davis has a lot of upside. He has the absolute TE body and with solid coaching could be a real steal - only problem, it may take a while to develop. Nice post - thanks. Chilly
That would be a decent draft for the Bills, but I friggin love that draft for the Jets :puke: McKelvin isn't a bad pick, Nelson is going to spend some time moving from slot to outside (which is why I'm not a huge fan of him), Kellen Davis is a solid pick, Adibi would fit our scheme at OLB pretty well, but I'm left wondering why we'd take Curtis Johnson after just taking Adibi (both are somewhat tweeners who could play OLB/DE in college). Draft a pass rusher a la Keith Rivers/Derrick Harvey and your corners will be better. PLEASE stop the nonsense that corner is needed. For depth, yes--in the sixth round, maybe. Yeah, that's my concern with Nelson. People can say he's not as highly touted because he's white, but I think there is this idea that Nelson can step right in and play opposite Evans. Unfortunately, that won't happen. He will need time to develop, and there is no guarantee he can be an outside threat in the NFL. I'm not saying Thomas, Sweed and Hardy are guartees, but their play seems to translate a better as of right now.
