OCinBuffalo Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Redskins recently offered their first-round pick in 2008 and their third-rounder in 2009 for Chad Johnson. The third-rounder could've escalated to a first-rounder based on performance in 2009, but the Redskins were turned down. Mort says this is the first "significant proposal" Cincinnati has received for Chad. There is a chance Washington will up its offer on draft day, but the Bengals aren't budging yet. (per rotoworld) If this is true, the price tag is WAAAAY to high Another fine example of Dan Snyder's "aggressive"(read: stupid) plan that will continue to run that team into the ground. They picked 1, that's right 1, player in last years' draft due to this kind of stupidity. Perhaps Cincy took mercy on them. Snyder is lucky that the Bengals didn't take this offer, because that team is going to need every single one of it's #1 picks for the next 4 years. Whenever I hear people B word about the Bills FO, I think of the Redskins and laugh. If these Bills fans only knew how bad things can really be. Donahoe aside, there's nothing that he ever did that even compares to the recent Redskins blunders, especially on chucking away draft picks and overpaying players that can't even make some other teams' rosters. The name Archuleta comes to mind.... But it's far more likely that the Cincy GM is sending a message to the rest of the team that a contract is a contract. Otherwise, given the direction that team seems to be heading, all the rats would try to get off the ship.
d_wag Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I would wait until draft day and low ball an offer to the Bengals- a third round pick for Chad how much would you offer for brady - a second rounder?
Wilson from Gamehendge Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 I am just curious...do all of you Chad Johnson haters, think Lee Evans is better than he is? *I do not mean his "Antics" or anything else...I am strictly talking about talent on the football field!
Orton's Arm Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 30 years old.6-1, 192 pounds. (Plays like he is 6-2 or 6-3). Over the last four years, Moulds has put up the following totals for receiving yards: 1043, 816, 557, 342. Chad Johnson would provide an immediate impact at the WR position, but how many years would his production last? The Bills ran into a similar problem several years ago, when they traded away a first round pick for a 9 year veteran at QB. Just two years later, they used another first round pick to try to find that quarterback's replacement. If the Bills use a first round pick on a given position, that position ought to be solidly filled for many years to come. That won't happen if we trade away a first round pick for Chad Johnson.
