BeastMode54 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 As expected, Chiefs franchise player Jared Allen is in the Twin Cities on Friday to visit with Vikings officials. The Vikings are expected to try and keep Allen in town until an agreement is reached. Minnesota seems poised to offer Allen a record setting contract. If this happens, the Vikings won't need to move up to get a DE and therefore we won't have a partner to trade down with. Looking more and more like we take a top CB at #11

colin Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 that would really give minni a serious front 4 has there ever been a d with all 4 linemen in the probowl?
billybob Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 that would really give minni a serious front 4 has there ever been a d with all 4 linemen in the probowl? usually it seems when a team is about to totally dominate at a position like that - something prevents it

Dr. Trooth Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Dude... the only thing this means is that the vikes are keeping their options open. Consider this... Allen will cost them a 1st rd pick plus the highest contract on their team by a considerable margin. If they've entertained Allen and have discussed the framework of a contract and know what the Chiefs are looking for as compensation, they have this as one option. On draft day, the Vikes will sit back and watch what happens. If their guy is there at #11... Harvey? then they have a choice... deal with the Bills so that Denver won't take him and pay a lot less than for Allen. Perhaps if Harvey is not there at #11, then when pick #17 comes up, they can give it to the Chiefs in exchange for Allen. Another possibility might be for the Chiefs to trade Allen straight up for Mckinnie if they don't get OT Long at #5 and instead take a DL. But I don't think there will be any movement on Allen until the draft.
