apparently his 40 time didn't sway their opinion. maybe we get him the 2nd round and go harvey or CB in the 1st. That would be amazing IMO.

"Him running that 40 time didn't alter where we put him on the board," said Modrak. "We thought he was going to run on the clock much differently - a little bit better than that. We figured he was a 4.5, 4.6 guy. Those guys can play. We don't think everybody needs to be 4.3, 4.4. Michael Irvin didn't run 4.4s, and he's a 6-foot-4 guy who's 230, that does make a difference obviously. Just that alone did not change it for us. It's a part of it, it's a piece of it and we'll mix it in."

I don't think his 40 time is the factor. He has injuries in his amateur career that may carry over...

In addition to running his forty in the mid-4.6 range at Wednesday's private Pro Day, NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports Malcolm Kelly benched 225 14 times.

Kelly's camp sent out an email saying he touched the mid-4.4s, but Brandt had Kelly at 4.63, 4.65 on a fast track. Kelly's short shuttle was 4.15. He was thrown 22 "catchable passes" from stand-in QB Eric Crouch and caught 21.

Wow, Eric Crouch. I'm guessing they brought him in so Kelly would no longer be the biggest whiner on the field.

you know it could be entirely possible that the bills are jumping for joy at Kelly's demise seeing how they can take Harvey in the 1st....Kelly in the 2nd ....and not have to do any trading up to do so.\

Just a thought

I don't see Kelly being our pick. His freefall has him in the late 2nd round to the early third. Round 2 would still be a reach for him.

What Modrak didn't say is WHERE on their board Kelly was. His 40 time didn't affect his position on their board because he was at the bottom next Mario Manningham under the heading "Avoid Like The Plague"...

Here's the translation of what Modrak is really saying...

"We like Kelly, and all along we've slotted him as a 3rd rounder. So, we're not detracted by his 40 time and have him still slotted there. If he's there when our pick comes up in the third, unless there's someone else we like at that spot, he's our man."

That sounds about right. Maybe a 2nd rounder though

We're talking about putting Malcolm Kelly at #50 on our Big Board at DraftTek.
