Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Veteran QB vs a 3-4 round QB? It would take 3-4 years normally to develop a QB from a round that low.... JP has shown he can be an effective backup coming off the bench..... Now as for the contract... I am sure any team investing a pick in a guy with a year left would want a new contract in place, and I am certain JP would accommodate that team I don't see why he would. His new team has a drastically different opinion of his price tag than he does. It would be very difficult to come to terms. Losman still believes he's a starter and wants a shot. Any new team likely views him as a second stringer with the ability to at least compete for a starting job. They won't pay him much. And why would Losman sign a small potatoes extension with a team when he's only a year away from hitting the open market to see if a better opportunity is out there?
Buffalo_Stampede Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I have Greenbay in the TBD mock draft this year. I was doing some research on their message boards and there is alot of talk of JP Losman. Many would rather have him over Rodgers. Thought it was intresting. Everyone that had Losman high on their boards got fired.
UticaBill Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 I don't see why he would. His new team has a drastically different opinion of his price tag than he does. I think you're making some assumptions here you can't be sure on... First, why would JP want to go to another team and compete for the #1 job and possibly settle for the #2... Opportunity! Why Would Randy Moss turn down more money to play with the Patriots instead? Opportunity! I really don't think anyone except JP and his Agent really know what their price tag is.... but as of now JP isn't kidding himself into thinking he is going to get a big money long term deal either....is it in JP's best interest to stay here? Not really, though it won't hurt anything, so he IS motivated to leave for a team that WANTS him. If a team wanted JP they would ask permission from the Bills to talk to JP and then get a feel for his perceived value... if its something they think they can work a deal with they make the trade and then put a clause in that says if they can't reach a deal JP reverts to the Bills and we give up a draft pick or return their pick depending on if the draft is over or not.... Just as simple as the deal with Philly last year! You make it sound like some impossible deal and I see it as an everyday business deal with no messy details... its all negotiations!
ExpertOpinion Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Everyone that had Losman high on their boards got fired. including donahue or was it donahole
/dev/null Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 That is interesting because I have looked at other team's forums to see what some of the fans say in reaction to Losman and he isn't a player most fans want in a trade. Not if it means giving anything up for him. What lousy fans. They have given up on him too soon. JP just needs another season or 2 to prove that he's worth trading a 5th rounder for. c'mon, give the guy a chance

ExpertOpinion Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Well I'm a good guy but I can't beat out Edwards for the starting QB job. I'm sure there are plenty of individuals that are better as a person than Losman with no one handing them anything .
bbfan54 Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 If Losman cannot start over Trent Edwards there is very little chance he will start over Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is not a rookie, he was drafted in the first round of the same draft class as Alex Smith. He is still a bit of an unknown, however, the Packers are going to give him a chance to succeed or fail given they used a first round pick on him. On the other hand so far, Losman has been a marginal starter at best.

Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 If they want JP, I'm curious to see what they would be asking for him.
