Everybody wants one, right? To me it's about the scheme that you play and for us the TE only needs to have decent speed and reliable hands but who can also be a very good blocker. I'm calling out Jacob Tamme's name for our selection at the TE position. I'm expecting 4th or 5th rd.

I was initially thinking a "pass catcher" and so Fred Davis was my pick......but the more articles I read leads me to believe they are going to look for a TE that can catch AND block well.

We still have Shoeman to catch the ball.....

Dustin Keller, Fred Davis and John Carlson seem to be the top three with Martellus Bennett a close fourth. Cal's Craig Stevens might be another choice for us if we don't take Tamme IMO.

My top 5 would be:

Bennett

Keller

Davis

Finley

Rucker

Finley is the guy I like for the Bills in R3-4. He's not going to block anyone (and most of the TEs in this draft won't), but he has the best hands of the bunch and will make very tough catches in traffic, is a great athlete and is just fast enough to be a threat deep down the middle of a defense.

I don't have any stats to back it up, but I did watch ND every Saturday the past two years and was always impressed by Carlson. He seems to have good hands and is a big guy. I remember him having a huge game against Michigan State a few years ago (I know, its only one game). Anyway, this could just be a biased ND fan talking.

One thing is for sure, the Bills shouldn't have to worry about character issues with this guy (or most graduates from ND).

I thought that rd2 was almost a must for a TE since the Bills would be very likely to have a choice from 2 out of the top 3 te in rd 2. Most likely there are 3-4 te drafted by our 3rd rd pick and you can bet that somebody good slips to rd 4. Since the Te class seems so deep I now think that it might be a really good thing if we draft best player available in rd 1.

The problem is that it really puts a lot of pressure on getting production out of a wr that slips to rd 2. Realistically, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, Mario Manningham, Early Doucet, or Andre Caldwell could very well slip to the 2nd rd. Especially if the Bills don't draft a wr in rd 1. I'm very happy with any of the above players. As long as the Bills definately draft the best Te on the board soon after. Lets take a look at NFL.com te profiles. They are on the left. Players names can be seen in the middle of the nfl.com profiles. Matching Youtube videos (some are great some are ok) will be right beside them:

Wow, I'm impressed with Dustin keller, Jermichael finley, and John Carlson

I'd be all about drafting 2 te or 2 wr this year!

I'm liking a standout tight end in the first round, but I don't think there is a standout tight end worthy of our first pick. As others have pointed out there is a pretty close gand of good tight ends who will make it well into the second round. We might go WR at 1 and TE at 2. Sounds like an offensive draft year for us with an emphasis on the passing game.

wow..seems ppl keep discussing and leaning to my mock draft.. <_<

I think it depends on the team and what you've already got on your roster at the TE position.

For the Bills, I think Dustin Keller fits the Bills' dynamic the best because they seem to like Royal and Co. as our blocking TE, and we could use Keller to split him out wide and create mismatches. I think the dynamic of Royal and Keller would work out for the best.

Another team who might have nothing at TE, might look at Fred Davis as the #1 TE on their board, as he is more of an all around TE than Keller.
