That fourth can be valuable. Some of the deepest positions in the draft are Bills needs too. The seventh will just secure a guy that they won't have to go after as a UFA. All in all better than nothing.

OT's, DE's, DT's, CB's are all supposed to be very deep while WR is deeper than usual. That fourth round pick could get a good backup and/or project guy.

It also enables the team to consider ANY trade up they're interested in....great news! This is a deep draft exactly where the Bills has weaknesses! GREAT NEWS!!!

Great news!

Not to rain on any parade, but Chris Brown had it explained to him by Overdorf why we weren't even eligible for extra comp picks. Should we be concerned that some guy on the internet (who predicted we would get these exact selections) knows more about the subject than one of our front office VP's, who happens to be responsible for our cap?

haha - well according to Chris Brown it hinged on whether the league wanted to count Josh Scobey and Jason Whittle as FA additions last year. I guess they chose not to put them in the equation, thankfully.

It's a good thing that Overdorf doesn't have any important duties. We could be in deep kimchi otherwise.

From BB.com

But the league only made Dockery and Walker a part of the equation thereby leaving Buffalo with a net loss of two free agents. Player salary, playing time and postseason honors are used among other factors to determine the appropriate compensatory picks to be awarded. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is used in the formula.

Does that mean that our FA signees were so bad that they didn't even count?

Cincy and Baltimore each go 4 picks.

Buffalo now has 10 picks in the NFL Draft including three in the top 75 and six in the top 150. The Bills have two picks in the fourth round and three in the seventh counting the compensatory picks they were awarded.

No, it means Clements got a much bigger contract than anyone in their right mind should have given him.
