2003
1.) Trade #11 to HOU for #18 and their 3rd. (HOU drafts R.Mendenhall) WR Devin Thomas The Bills really like this guy, and so do I. He's got the size, the speed, and the yac. The guy gives the Bills much needed physicality at the WR position, and he'd be able to juke the snot out of those malcontents that we call the opposing AFC East Defensive Backs! He is also one of the few good wide reciever prospects that come from a cold environment. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/devin-thomas?id=1036 2.) CB Terrell Thomas He may not have the greatest speed, but he sure can hit. He would fit in perfectly for the Bills' cover-2 scheme. He played it at USC and really excelled. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/terrell-thomas?id=326 3a.) C Mike Pollack The guy is a beast of a center who would compete with Fowler for the starting gig. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/mike-pollak?id=294 3b.) WR Jordy Nelson How is this guy not a projected first round pick? He had over 100 catches last year, he ran a 4.5 forty, and he is 6'3. This guy will be one of the steals of the draft. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jordy-nelson?id=1032 4.) TE John Carlson http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/john-carlson?id=1966 5.) FB Owen Schmitt http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/owen-schmitt?id=312 6.) S Jamie Silva http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jamie-silva?id=316 7a.) DE Jeremy Thompson http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jeremy-thompson?id=2317 7b.) Bflojohn
I'm of the opinion that 26 sacks are NOT enough, and DE must be addressed fairly early in this draft. I am thinking that if the Bills select "best player available", which is undoubtedly the right drafting philosophy, they will have Derrick Harvey staring them in the face April 26th! Devin Thomas is a need pick and I'd be thrilled if the Bills somehow landed him, however, I'd rather see the team move back into the 1st round (San Diego @27) and explore the #2WR they want on their board. The other thing I'm worried about is if Marcus Stroud, God forbid, got injured, we'd be right back to square one! I am following Atyhba Rubin, the huge DT from Iowa State in the hopes the Bills can shore up the rotation even more for sound depth purposes! Remember, WR's and TE's are fairly deep this year, and a player like Jordy Nelson can be had later on in the second day!! Mine would look something like this.... 1.) Derrick Harvey, DE 1.) Devin Thomas, WR 3.) Athyba Rubin, DT 4.) Jeremy Zuttah, OG 5.) Kellen Davis, TE 6.) Peyton Hillis, FB 7A.) Justin Tryon, CB 7B.) Jack Ikeguonu, CB (inj.) The only reason why I didn't have the Bills drafting a DE early is because I feel their pass rush will be back to the above average norm. Marcus Stroud will be double teamed 9 plays out of 10, which gives McCargo, Schobel, and Kelsay one less guy to beat. Also, you know Kelsay wants to live up to his contract, so he will continue to get better. I feel as though he (and John McCargo) will have a break out year next year. AND, the Bills will be blitzing quite more often this year, too. Teams won't always have 3rd and shorts like they did last year. With the acquisition of Kawika Mitchell and Poz coming back, expect the Bills run defense to be vastly improved, causing opposing offenses to face way more third and longs. Steely Dan
Cool draft but I don't think Thaddeus Coleman will be available in the 7th round. My mock; (Like you care ) 1. Aqib Talib -CB - 6'1/2" - Kansas 2. Pat Sims - DT - 6'3" - Auburn 3. Adarius Bowman WR 6'2" OKLAHOMA STATE 4. Owen Schmitt - FB - 6'2" West Virginia 5. Darnell Terrell - CB - 6'2" - Missouri 6. Bryan Kehl - OLB - 6'2" - BYU 7. Thaddeus Coleman - OT - 6'7" - Mississippi Valley State 7. Kaleb Thornhill - ILB - 6'2" - Michigan State

Why do you feel the Bills need a DT this early? The Bills seem to have some pretty decent depth at the position now: Stroud + McCargo, Williams, Johnson, and Jefferson. BeastMode54
I go back and forth on what we should take with the #11 by the minute. But the more I think about it, I don't think DE should be taken first. While there are some great prospects out there, I think with the addition of Stroud and Johnson, it will free up SChobel and Kelsay, allowing them easier access to the QB. I don't want to reach at #11 either, which is why trading down could be the best option if we could get someone like Hardy, Sweed, of Kelly, maybe even Thomas

The Bills seem to have some pretty decent depth at the position now: Stroud + McCargo, Williams, Johnson, and Jefferson. The WR's available from the Bills second to third pick I think are much closer in value than DT's are. The Bills, on paper, have a great DT rotation but if Stroud is injured it becomes a problem again. There is nothing wrong with having too many DT's. I think one more great interior DL wouldn't be a bad thing at all. I'm very concerned about Stroud's durability.
ax4782
With the D-Line, the consistent theme of people's posts is that they would like to have more depth at DT and DE. The problem is, we have NEED positions on offense that HAVE to be addressed if this team is going to make the playoffs. WR and TE are NEED positions. I think the Bills would be smart to trade down. Sweed, Kelly, Hardy, or Thomas are likely to be available. Not all of them, but at least two of that top group are likley to be there. I think we can pick up a 2 and thus I believe the following is what the Bills should do. Trade Down to 18 1: Malcolm Kelly/James Hardy WR 2a: Fred Davis TE 2b: Pat Sims DT 3: Jordy Nelson WR 4: Owen Schmitt FB 5: Kellen Davis TE 6: C 7a: OL 7b: OL OR Trade with Dallas for 22 and 28 1a: Aqib Talib CB 1b. James Hardy WR 2: Fred Davis TE 3: Jordy Nelson WR 4:Owen Schmitt FB 5: Kellan Davis TE 6: D-Line 7a: O-Line 7b: O-Line
Bills Freak
A lot of dream possibilities here but since WR is tight in talent & fairly deep. We probably should wait til RD 2. Since trading down requires a happy partner I believe I'll stick w/ what we have. Here Goes: (Choices based on who I believe will still be available) 1. CB - Dominique Rodgers Cromartie - Instant Impact 2. WR - Devin Thomas - Should be there 3. TE - Dustin Keller or Fred Davis - Hopefully One is still avail 4. C - Mike Pollack - An Upgrade @ Center 5. WR - Jordy Nelson 6. DE - Derrick Harvey 7. DT - Robert Henderson 7. OLB - Mike Humpal
