Seriously,

So where does prostitution end and slavery begin? Since its legal now , lets add it to your list of duties as my maid or gardener. Maybe you are here illegaly, now what do you do? your boss says perform sex, so what do you do? Now Any rich person could lure anyone in with money to perform sex.

anyone means your daughter could be the next victim, or your niece, even your wife. Do you want to lose the only protection you have against someone, anyone, openly soliciting your loved ones to enter into the sex trade? I sure don't,

so think about it... :pirate:

It's legal here in Australia...You actually have ads in the classifieds for escorts....Nobody pays too much attention to them. Everyone seems happy with it. It's regulated and taxed and the police monitor it. Not saying it's right or wrong but it is what it is here. After seeing it here...and really dosen't affect me one way or the other....I don't see a problem with it.

You say at the end of your nose is where my rights end. However you are fine in saying that your freedom to make a judgement decision on anyone elses behalf . Lets take drugs for example, while the Federal Government spends over 600 BILLION a year on the war on drugs. That number is not taking in count for the money spent on jail for all those locked up. Also not taken into account the amount of victimless crimes that are taking up our judicial system making them hurring along cases that allows rapists and child molesters to get plea deals. If you legalize, then tax and use that tax to educate things would be much better off, not to mention that cartels, gangs and mafias would lose their cash cow because now you can buy at the local 711 instead of going to a dealer.

Onto your gun argument. The sad acts of gun crimes break laws that are there already, so it is easy to conclude that bad people still get weapons, while decent law abiding citizens dont. If more guns would mean more crimes how come No one gets shot at NRA conventions, or gun rallies. However terrible gun crimes are committed when only one or people of one mind get guns, such as say womans clothing stores or a school campus. Is it safe to say that these terrible acts of cowardly losers would have taken place had more VICTIMS had guns. The answer is yes insane people will still be insane, but had someone had the means to fight back, it is fair to say the losses would be less.

Onto your speeding argument. Are you telling me that the only reason I drive or anyone drives safely is because its the law. I drive safe because well I like to keep me an mine in one piece from the beginning of my journey to the end. How can you assume that if I have two choices I will make one you disagree with.

The bottom line is we have all be dooped into buying into the politicians saying how the will keep us safe, while they slowley take away our rights. The freedoms allowed to us are being taken away because the government thinks you cant choose what is right for you. Before we go beyond the point of no return, lets scrap the two party system. Let us take power from the federal government and atleast return some to the local and state governments. Lets listen to what Kennedy said and stop asking what the government can do for us.

Personally I dont care what, who, or how you do anything. Just stop telling me how to live my life.

It is up to the individuals involved to say no and find other work.

By the way, according to the academic studies I've found on JSTOR and others, prostitution rates have actually decreased or remained the same when its been made legal in developed countries.

Its was allot different when it was a pimp running the show, but now its legal so anyone can approach you about the sex trade. A boss, a friend even a stranger on the street. What will your wife say when a stranger offers her $10,000 and you are both struggling to put your kids through college?

Mail order brides have increased and are now shipped in and married into prostitution by the thousands because of the huge profits involved in the sex industry.

I've lived in Arizona and used to visit Neveda frequently. I lost a girl I loved very dearly from one of my visits to Neveda. Just out with the guys, got to drunk and made a mistake. Being the honest person that I am, I owned up to it, tried to make her understand I didn't mean to, that I barely even remember what happened. She tried to forgive me but the damage was done, it wasn't long and she was gone from my life.

True story

Just one mistake, but one I would never have made had prostitution not been legal and so readily available.

Rates? How do you rate and compare something you never had an accurate numbers on to begin with? Do you think when it was illegal people volunteered this information out? Or you ever hear of working under the table to avoid taxes? so fart on academic studies :pirate:

You are admitting a mistake and trying to blame the availability of prostitutes for your mistake. No...its your mistake...repeat after me...personal responsibility...personal responsibility....personal responsibility....

Last nite was St. Pats and I went out for several Guinnii. I'm not blaming the bar for serving me because I feel like a$$ today. Personal responsibility.

What if your head was as big as your front door? Would it still fit up your ass?

So you're citing illegal behavior as a reason not to legalize something? That's really smart.

I took responsibilty and faced the consequences :pirate:

We are talking about something you can't even put a number on because we will never know how many relationships or mariages are destroyed because of prostitution.

I'll answer your question....NONE are destroyed by prostitution. They may or may not be destroyed by the personal choices of the individuals.

Not quite sure what your point here is, other than it being illegal isn't working.

Blame prostitution instead of yourself. Nice.

Lets see, which one am I going to believe:

- Your posts, which are nothing more than speculation, anecdotal evidence, and avoidance of responsibility

- Studies, done by people who are aware of these issues and take that into account when estimating numbers for an entire population, all of which are based off of actual, hard data

Hard choice.

It wasn't legal prostitution it was weak moral character. I'm sure you wouldn't have cheated if a woman met you in a bar and wanted to do the nasty for free. :censored:

I've brought up numerous reasons why the legalization of prostitution could be more bad then good. It seems None of them are even worth consideration to most of you. So what about if it just offends your neighbor? Maybe 80% of you are ok with prostitution, what about the other 20% that isn't Ok with it? Surely we can live without it because we have been doing it up until now, so do we want to change a law that a fifth of the population disagrees with?

Myself, I'm willing to make sacrafices, and just because you might be in a minority doesn't mean your opinion doesn't count as much as everyone elses because it does. I voted yes for the legalization of prostitution but in my heart I feel it could be the wrong choice. I guess If it come down to a real vote to decide the outcome I would have to think long and hard.

I hope all of you would to.

Yeah, one fifth of the population should be able to set the agenda for the country. :P Unfortunately that's how it works.

I'm not offended by the concept of prostitution. If a woman, or her own will, decides to make a living that way, I'm fine with that. The problem is that it's rarely that simple. Too many women turn to prostitution as a last resort because of financial and family problems. Others are forced into it by pimps and other men who care less about them. And no matter what precautions one takes there is always the risk of spreading disease. And even in places where it is legal like Amsterdam, organized crime traffics in sex slavery.

I do support the idea of punishing the john but offering the woman support and counseling to get out of the life.

ANSWER EVERYONE'S QUESTION:

Why are you against prostitution when you should be against Alcohol?

You got drunk, !@#$ a whore, and then are upset because you got CAUGHT.

Alcohol and a girlfriend who wouldn't do what you wanted in bed are why this all happened; not the fact that prostitution is illegal.

With your (insane) logic, they should make cars illegal because sometimes people get drunk and THEN drive them erratically.

But because you were drunk and horny, we should blame prostitution for your infidelity? I have a good feeling if you weren't such a dolt, you would have cheated on this girl you "lost" with a non-for-hire woman. It was just easier to whip out the MasterCard and avoid the first 9 rejections.

So, again, why don't you argue for prohibition? Oh wait, it's because your girlfriend doesn't get mad when you drink...
