Lurker
Two of these three teams are completely new staffs. I know if I were in the position to make decisions then I would accumale whatever players I felt would make a difference in my strategy. This way if I got the boot I know that I did it "My Way". Then trade down and get as many new guys that fit your system as you can. One player (especially a non-QB), even if he turns into a star, is not gonna help these teams turn around, other than at the box office. IMO, trading up is fools gold for any team not on the cusp of being a strong SB contender.

Not true...Sometime that one big player can make the rest of the surrounding cast look like all-stars...Tom Brady when he took over a 1-4 team made the same OL look like they were the est OL in the world....Drew Brees made such an impact that he turned a 7th rd pick into almost a rookie of the year. I said non-QB. Is there anyone in this draft that can make hamburger look like sirloin? I doubt it, but GM's think they can turn water into wine. Trading away picks for "can't miss" prospects is why the Arizonas and Detroits and even Washingtons stay so mediocre...

Wouldn't Washington have to have picks to get prospects in the draft? The trade away picks for name players, they don't draft players

The trade away picks for name players, they don't draft players In the sense that the 'Skins give up the future to gamble heavily on the here-and-now, they fit the same model. If they'd stop mortgaging the future and try to build through the draft, I'd bet they'd have more success on the field. But since they don't have to worry about selling tickets, I suppose it's a moot point.
