obie_wan Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Havent heard much on him, but his combine stats looked good, maybe in the 3rd???? he runs great in his underwear. but his on field production does not match up with measureables. no thanks
ACor58 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 LinkHavent heard much on him, but his combine stats looked good, maybe in the 3rd???? From NFL.com Positives: Has a thick frame with good upper body muscle development, tight waist and hips, good bubble, muscular thighs and calves and minimal body fat … Could add another 10 pounds to his frame without the additional bulk impacting his outstanding quickness … Has the foot speed to come out of his stance and through the holes with good explosion, showing good balance and flexibility … More of a straight-line runner, but builds to top acceleration nicely … Combines good strength with that speed to effectively push the pile, but lacks vision choosing a rush lane (has the burst to bounce, but lacks the quick change-of-direction agility) … Needs to be more patient waiting for his blocks to develop, but has the power to generate movement running between the tackles … Can break tackles on contact with his leg drive, but needs to keep his pads down in order to have success there … Has the acceleration to get the most out of his speed moves working up field … Has decent balance after contact to keep his feet and makes positive yards, but only when he runs behind his pads with proper body lean through the line of scrimmage … Shows strength at the goal line, and while he appears to gather in his cuts, he has the second gear to take the ball long distances … Shows good ball security attacking the holes and has the strength to consistently push the pile … Has the agility to adjust in his pass routes, but needs to refine his route-running ability … Has the body control to take a seam to gain extra yardage … Shows good avoidance skills running between the tackles and does a good job of squaring his shoulders to break arm tackles … While his route running is marginal, he does extend well for the ball outside his frame and appears to have natural hands. Negatives: Has a lot of growing up to do off the field and needs quite a bit of prodding from coaches in practice to stay focused (suspended for one game in 2006) … Better athlete than football player, as he lacks field vision and will at times make poor decisions attacking the rush lanes … Has excellent speed, but it is usually negated as he is too impatient waiting for blocks to develop … Must show better pick-and-slide agility and must do a better job of locating rush lanes (in 165 carries in 2006, he was tackled for a loss 32 times and had 17 others runs that saw him taken down at the line of scrimmage) … Shows inconsistencies coming off the snap, as he seems to lack that feel for the crease and will run into spots rather than try to bounce out and avoid … Even though he has great speed for a player of his size, he rarely displays fluid hip swerve or change-of-direction agility to run away from defenders after the initial hit (marginal pick-and-slide runner) … When he gets too tall in his stance attacking the holes, defenders attack his body often and have had good success in pushing him back … Not much of a creative open-field runner and will gather to cut … Has good hands but poor route-running ability, struggling to get his head turned around to track the ball in (used strictly on dump-offs and as the hot receiver only) … While he might align and position himself when blocking in pass protection, he needs to maintain focus on the job at hand (makes only passive attempts to sustain blocks) … Needs to slide his feet and use his hands better when asked to pick up the blitz and protect the pocket … Even though he has the size of a fullback, he lacks the ability (or desire) and technique to be considered an effective lead blocker. Compares To: Michael Bennett, Kansas City Chiefs … The Scouting Combine "darling" after his impressive workout, one needs to realize that Henry was hailed more for his track exploits coming out of high school than his ability on the football field … Sure, some team will draft him higher than his stock dictates due to his quickness, but speed wasn't enough to turn Bennett into an NFL star due to a lack of field instincts, impatience waiting for blocks to develop and inconsistent pad level … Others might disagree, but based on his production, or lack of, and less than stellar approach to his benching in 2006, we can't see Henry being labeled anything more than a workout warrior at this time.

MadBuffaloDisease Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I'd rather take this guy: Jackie Battle And he runs in the 4.4's, at 235#, had sick short shuttle, 3-cone, VJ, and BJ numbers, and rushed for 943 yards and 15 TD's.

MartyBall4Buffalo Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Oh boy just all the things you love to see in a rb. Great straight line speed, with poor change of direction ability. Goes down easy, sh------- vision and is compareable to one of the softest rb in the league Michael "Made of glass" Bennett. Pass. The absolute worst thing a rb can have is impatience and poor vision to find rush lanes.
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 They measure BJ numbers? I don't know why you're smiling about that, but I mean if you like that sort of thing from prospect runningbacks I'm not here to judge lifestyles
stuckincincy Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I'm not here to judge lifestyles Leave that to me.

We have Lynch, Fred Jackson, Dwayne Wright, and a ton of holes elsewhere.
