The Alaskan Democratic Party sent out voter registration cards to Alaska residents and illegally placed the return address as their party headquarters. The return address was the acronym "ADP". These cards ask for personal information (like social security number & party affiliation).

Apparently they have been receiving the returned cards. Now that the State Division of Elections found out about it, they asked for an injunction. The judge resolved the case by having a SDE employee accompany the ADP rep on the "mail run" every day to pick up the returned cards.

This is perceived by many to be an attempt by the ADP to control new registrations in a strongly Republican state because there is a close race between the appointed incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski and Democratic challenger and former Governor Tony Knowles.

The number of disenfranchised voters who returned cards to the ADP that weren't forwarded to the SDE won't be known until after the election. I'm curious to see how it shakes down on that front.

The local paper has barely reported the story. The local radio stations are having a field day. Guess which slants which way?

I think that all these stories that we are hearing about is relly nothing new. It is more likely a result of people paying closer attention.
