N.Y. Orangeman Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 FYI...not that it means anything, but I found this interesting... 1. ILB Patrick Willis, Ole Miss 2. CB Tarrell Brown, Texas 3a. RB Chris Henry, Arizona 3b. DB Tanard Jackson, Syracuse 4. OLB Zack DeOssie, Brown 6. OLB Kelvin Smith, Syracuse 7a. RB Jon Cornish, Kansa 7b. CB Darius Vinnett, Arkansa
CJPearl2 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 If we got Turner - let's say for the 2nd round pick - I would be happy with that draft.
Matt in KC Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 If we got Turner - let's say for the 2nd round pick - I would be happy with that draft. Am I losing my mind or are you? If we traded for Turner, you'd be happy with drafting 3 LBs, 2 more RBs and 2 DBs? Or are you finding a way to tell N.Y. Orangeman he's lost his mind and I'm too thick to catch it?
Max997 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I would like to see RB Chris Henry from Arizona on the Bills but not in the 3rd round...more like the 4th or 5th

Scouts.com did.. but im going to assume he meant getting turner instead of henry and drafting someone else at the 3a spot.
The Dean Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 hey matt...... n.y. orangeman didn't make that mock draft... Scouts.com did.. but im going to assume he meant getting turner instead of henry and drafting someone else at the 3a spot. Me too. And that would be one hell of a draft, IMO.
Acantha Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I really don't like seeing Brown AND Jackson being picked. I think one or the other would be good picks, I'd prefer Jackson at that spot over Brown at his. That second round pick could be used to pick a better RB or even keep the rest of the draft the way it is and go best available player with the second pick. Either way, other than that I like the results.
Matt in KC Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 hey matt...... n.y. orangeman didn't make that mock draft... Scouts.com did.. but im going to assume he meant getting turner instead of henry and drafting someone else at the 3a spot. Okay, thanks. I somehow missed the thread title. I'm tired.... I think this mock has us drafting one LB too many for our needs and I don't know many of the college players projected to be drafted after the first round or two this year, so forgive me. If we can get Willis, then a CB in the second, and Turner, we're off to a great start. If Tanard Jackson can backup at safety, and the other (again, not two more!) RB is more of a specialist (FB/short yardage), than I think this is close to what we need. Fill in some combo of a OG/C, DE, TE or a promising WR for the two players you took out (RB, LB), and I'm sold.
I 90 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Okay, thanks. I somehow missed the thread title. I'm tired.... . Not a hard mistake to make given that the draft has two Orangemen too many.
ndirish1978 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 If we got Turner - let's say for the 2nd round pick - I would be happy with that draft. I agree. Throw in next years 4th, conditional 3rd.
N.Y. Orangeman Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Not a hard mistake to make given that the draft has two Orangemen too many. Believe me, I'd hurl if we drafted anyone but Jackson and especially hard if we drafted Smith.
R. Rich Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Jackson is a good player w/ the versatility to fill in either @ corner or safety. For that reason, he'll certainly get drafted, by the Bills or some other team. He may even go before the third, especially if there's a run on DBs.

Considering how decrepid I see our secondary being with Toast McGee and Youboty starting, I would'nt mind drafting 2 DB's.
RuntheDamnBall Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 That's all well and good, but... no linemen, defensive or offensive? No 3rd-string QB to groom? All LBs, RBs and CBs?

Billsjunkie Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Chris Henry? Blah no thank you. Another back that I'm not wanting in this draft. WORKOUT WARRIOR and nothing more. He didn't do squat on that football field.
apuszczalowski Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 That's all well and good, but... no linemen, defensive or offensive? No 3rd-string QB to groom? All LBs, RBs and CBs? The Bills have no room on their roster right now for more linemen. Would you prefer they draft players for the practice squad rather then fill holes at RB and LB? They don't need any more linemen this year, they have to see what they have now before they go out an get more. After evaluating the ones they brought in this offseason tis year, they will go in next year and get more to fill their needs. I do agree, you will probably see a 3rd string QB unless they bring up one from NFLE, and you might see a WR or TE if one falls in their lap
Bill from NYC Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 The Bills have no room on their roster right now for more linemen. Would you prefer they draft players for the practice squad rather then fill holes at RB and LB? The above is anything but a given, unless one views players such as Merz and Preston as unstoppable forces who must stay. I was at the NE game and thought that Merz was OK for a rookie. As for Preston, nothing I have seen him do on the field indicates to me that he is a good player. To put it in another context, what do you think we could get for him in a trade, maybe a 7th? Also, injuries do happen, and it looks to me as if we need some depth at OC. I know that LB and RB are bigger needs right now, but there is almost never a bad time to strengthen lines on both sides.
tennesseeboy Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Interesting draft. Guess its going after our two obvious weak spots with all those backers and DB's. I like the running backs...but that part looks a little risky. If we get Turner I suspect that should open up the later round choice more to a "best player available" pick. Nice job, though.

You know I'd love to see a great line on this team, but I do have to wonder if they'll so easily give up on players they just took (like Pennington, Merz, and even Preston) in recent drafts, especially for guys who will probably be there mainly for depth. That could lead to disaster down the line, cap wise. The Bills have addressed the line in free agency, something I really didn't think they'd do. Now, we have to see what these guys can do.
