Mark Vader Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Before the web-slinger faces a new goblin, a pile of sand, and the venom within...Before Danny Ocean attempts a third heist...Before a silver being from beyond threatens the family quartet of heroes...Before the boy wizard takes on Lord Voldemort, again...Before shoeshine boy becomes the most unlikliest hero of all time...Before the jolly green ogre attempts to find a new heir to the throne...Before our favorite yellow-skinned-chinnless family makes their debut on the big screen...Before Det.Carter & Inspector Lee fight crime in Paris...Before Jason Bourne unravels more of the mystery about himself...Before John McClane takes on internet terrorists...Before we meet a parisian rat with a taste for the good things in life...Before God calls upon Evan to build an ark...Before a group of pirates set sail to rescue Captain Sparrow, and their own well being...And before a group of alien robots bring their war to our world.....The Spring Season finishes up with a month filled with thrills. Yes everyone, before the monstrous Summer movie season of 2007 begins, the month of April arrives to give us some last minute appetizers, before the main courses in May, June, July, & August. Leading that charge is the much hyped Quentin Tarantino-Robert Rodriguez collaboration, "Grindhouse". Tarantino loves to go the retro route, and he does so here by reminding people of what a grindhouse was. A movie theatre dedicated to showing the most exploitive movie fare around. Both Tarantino & Rodriguez made 2 short films for "Grindhouse". First is Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" with Rose McGowan, Freddy Rodriguez, & Michael Biehn. Planet's main plot follows the similar paths of other zombie like films. Lots of blood, guts, and other great gore, and of course lots of shoot-em-ups, especially with McGowan's machine gun leg. The second film is Tarantino's "Death Proof", starring Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike, a man with a killer car, that has a taste for young women. Both movies are filmed with intentional bad footage, scratches, dirt, missing reels, retro ads, and trailers for the fake movies "Machete", "Werewolf Women of the SS", "Don't", & "Thanksgiving". No doubt the Tarantino geeks will be out in full force, but the trailer may bring in others as well. April is filled with many thrills this month: In "Vacancy" Luke Wilson & Kate Beckinsale find themselves stranded at a seedy motel, where they might become victims for a snuff film. In "Perfect Stranger" Halle Berry plays an undercover journalist who is attempting to expose a powerful businessman, played by Bruce Willis. In "Disturbia", Shia Lebouf is under house arrest, and the only way he can pass time is by watching his neighbors from his room. Call it a teen version of Rear Window. In "The Reaping", Hilary Swank plays a proffessor who travels to Texas to investigate occurrences that appear to be the 10 Biblical plagues. In "Fracture", Anthony Hopkins plays a man on trial for murdering his wife, but can the DA(Ryan Gosling) provide the proof. In "Wind Chill", Two college students (Emily Blunt and Ashton Holmes) share a ride home for the holidays. When they break down on a deserted stretch of road, they're preyed upon by the ghosts of people who have died there. After he's attacked and left for dead, Nick Powell (Justin Chatwin) finds himself in a strange sort of limbo. In "The Invisible". Nicolas Cage plays a man who can see the future. Because of this ability he becomes a target for the FBI. Julianne Moore & Jessica Biel co-star in "Next". In "Pathfinder", A Viking boy is left behind after his clan battles a Native American tribe. Raised within the tribe, he ultimately becomes their savoir in a fight against the Norsemen. Steve Austin plays Joe Conrad. A man about to be put to death in a Central American prison. However he's purchased by a TV producer and transported to a remote island where a 10-person, fight-to-the-death battle is to be staged and broadcast online, in "The Condemned". There will be some laughs this month as well: From the people who brought you Shaun of the Dead, comes "Hot Fuzz". Simon Pegg plays a London cop who is so good at his job, that he is making the rest of the force look bad. He is then transferred to a smaller town, where a series of "accidents" might be more than they seem. Nick Frost co-stars. In "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theatres", Junk food trio Frylock, Meatwad, and Master Shake begrudgingly use their collective superpowers in a battle with an apocalyptic exercise machine called the "Insanoflex." Family films also are around: From the "Did we really need a sequel dept." comes, "Are We Done Yet?", featuring another match up of Ice Cube Vs. 2 bratty kids, again. Finally in "Firehouse Dog", Rexxx, Hollywood's top canine star, gets lost and is adopted into a shabby firehouse. He teams up with a young kid to get the station back on its feet. Fezmid Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Dang, I never even saw this post....thanks for the bump Mark! Looks like there is already a lot of interesting stuff for me to catch up on! You actually watch movies at the theater? I rarely go anymore -- personally, I'd ratherwait 4-5 months, spend $20 and buy it on (HD) DVD. I *might* watch Spiderman 3 in the theater, we'll see how my schedule it. Other than that, probably nothing.
GoodBye Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 ...and? The LanaK6 review? I was referring to the thread. Haven't seen any of the movies...yet.
