1. Oakland Raiders - QB JaMarcus Russell (LSU)...Russell is a big body with a big arm which will fit in well with the Raiders vertical passing game...the team passed up two franchise type QB's in last years Draft and people close to the organization feel it set them back in their rebuilding process...they won't make the same mistake again!

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from Detroit) - WR Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech)...Draft Day Trade...The Lions will deal this pick in a Draft Day trade with Tampa and Atlanta being their likely trading partner....Tampa wants Calvin Johnson and has the ammunition to make the move to get him...the Bucs have two second round picks (their own and Indy's) and switch picks with the Lions and send them their second round pick #35 and their fifth round pick #131 to complete the deal.

3. Cleveland Browns - QB Brady Quinn (Notre Dame)...The Browns need to find an identity for the franchise in this Draft...by taking Brady Quinn the Browns would have their franchise-type QB in place...Romeo Crennel and team owner Randy Lerner were both in attendance at Quinns Pro Day workout and came away very impressed...if Quinn is already off the board then look for them to entertain trade talks to move down or take HB Peterson or OT Thomas with this pick.

4. Detroit Lions (from Tampa ) - DE Gaines Adams (Clemson)...Draft Day Trade...The Lions found a trading partner in a Draft day trade with Tampa...the Lions are pleased that they didn't have to move down too far and made the deal with the Bucs...the Lions acquired the Bucs second round pick #35 and their fifth round pick #131 for the move...Detroit still has the option to move down again since Arizona is said to covet Joe Thomas and may be willing to give Detroit a Draft pick to secure him...the Lions will either take Adams or Thomas here with Louisville Dt Amobi Okoye (a great fit in their scheme) being a darkhorse pick if they trade down further.

5. Arizona Cardinals - OT Joe Thomas (Wisconsin)...The Cardinals were hoping that OT Thomas would slip thru the cracks and waste little time in making their pick...Arizona may be willing to give up a Draft pick to move up and secure Thomas.

6. Atlanta Falcons (from Washington) - FS LaRon Landry (LSU)...Draft Day Trade... The Redskins will be active on Draft day because this is the only first day pick the team owns...plus... several teams will be calling since both Landry and Peterson are still on the board...Atlanta has the ammunition to swing a trade and switches picks with the Skins and includes their third round pick #75 in the deal...the Falcons really want Landry and know if they stay put at #8 he might be off the board.

7. Minnesota Vikings - HB Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma)...Vikings Coach Brad Childress has hinted that the team intends to lessen the workload of Chester Taylor this season because Taylor is a smaller type back who was over-worked last year...if Peterson is here, he will be tough to pass up since Gaines Adams and LaRon Landry are both already off the board.

8. Washington Redskins (from Atlanta) - DE Jamaal Anderson (Arkansas)...Draft Day Trade...The Redskins acquired this pick from Atlanta along with the Falcons third round pick #75 for their sixth pick overall...there are three players (DE Anderson, DT's Okoye and Branch) that the Redskins will make their pick here...Anderson's stock is picking up steam as the Draft approaches and DE's that can rush the passer don't fall off trees...if Anderson is off the board the Redskins could move back again because that would mean that Landry or Peterson are still available which would draw interest to this pick.

9. Miami Dolphins - DT Amobi Okoye (Louisville)...The Dolphins have needs to fill on their aging Defensive line...but they also have needs on the O-Line at Tackle...the Dolphins will choose between Okoye, DT Branch or OT Brown here.

10. Houston Texans (from Atlanta) - OT Levi Brown (Penn State)....Trade Down?...Don't be surprised if the Texans make an attempt to trade down to add picks since they dealt their second rounder as part of the Matt Schaub trade...depending on how far they move, look for them to target a DE or a WR later in the round...if they keep this pick it's Levi Brown to solidify their offensive line.

11. San Francisco 49'ers - DE Adam Carricker (Nebraska)...Trade Down?...They just made a big splash in FA on the Defensive side of the ball and would like to turn their attention to the offense to help Alex Smith..however...none of the WR's are worthy of this pick...Carricker is a perfect fit at End in Nolans 3-4 scheme and the type of player Nolan wants on his team.

12. Buffalo Bills - ILB Patrick Willis (Mississippi)...Willis is just what the doctor ordered for a run defense that was poor last season and lost it's MLB (London Fletcher-Baker) in free-agency...He's also a great fit for their Tampa-2 scheme...their HB will come in round two or three.

13. St. Louis Rams - DT Alan Branch (Michigan)... I believe the Rams will be looking for a trading partner to move down in the Draft because they have several holes to fill and can move down a bit and still fill their needs...Rams DC Jim Haslett will push hard in the War room for Posluszny if the team trades down...but since Branch has slipped they make him their pick.

14. Carolina Panthers - CB Leon Hall (Michigan)...Trade Down?...The Panther need LB'er help but they won't stray away from their board just to fill a position...the team is very high on TE Greg Olsen but Hall is at the top of their board and the pick.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers - OLB Lawrence Timmons (Florida State)...The Steelers were hoping that DE Carricker would fall to them here but since he's gone they take the best player on their board in LB Timmons...the Steelers are said to covet Timmons.

16. Green Bay Packers - TE Greg Olsen (Miami-Florida)...The Packers fill one of their needs on the offensive side of the ball and give Brett Favre a target at TE that can stretch a Defense...the Packers passed on HB Lynch and the WR's here.

17.Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Jarvis Moss (Florida)...Their biggest needs are at Safety and the DE position and will choose between DE Moss and Reggie Nelson...Moss has the ability to develop into a feared pass-rusher if he's willing to pay the price.

18. Cincinnati Bengals - FS Reggie Nelson (Florida)..Finding a TE with speed is high on the Bengals Draft priority list so Greg Olsen will be considered if he's on the board...but the Bengals also have needs on the defensive side of the ball and Nelson has the ability to start from day one for the Bengals and provide a huge upgrade in their secondary.

19. Tennessee Titans - CB Chris Houston (Arkansas)...The Titans signed Colts CB Nick Harper to ease their CB situation but the team will still need another CB if and when Pacman is suspended or released...Houston gets the nod over a WR or HB here.

20. New York Giants - OLB Paul Posluszny (Penn State)...Trade Down?...The Giants need help at several positions so trading down and adding picks would make sense...if they keep this pick...it's Posluszny because OLB is one of their biggest needs at this time despite signing Kawika Mitchell.

21. Denver Broncos - WR Ted Ginn Jr. (Ohio State)......Finding a DE who can rush the passer is the teams top offseason priority... so don't be surprised if they try to trade up and into one of the Top 10 picks of the Draft to land either Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson...since none of the other DE's are worthy here they tab the speedy Ginn to strengthen their need at WR.

22. Dallas Cowboys - CB Darrelle Revis (Pittsburgh)..The Cowboys are hoping that their need at Safety was filled with the signing of Ken Hamlin and now add Revis to further strengthen their secondary which was the teams weak link last season...a WR will also be considered here.

23. Kansas City Chiefs - WR Robert Meachum (Tennessee)...The Chiefs need to find a WR this offseason and Meachum's stock has been rising since the end of the season....plan B is to take a CB with this pick.

24. New England Patriots (from Seattle) - S Brandon Meriweather (Miami-Florida)...The Pats have needs on the defensive side of the ball at Safety and at Linebacker and Meriweather is the best available on the board at this time.... several prospects that carry second to fourth round grades would be a good fit for the team if they decide to trade out of pick #28.

25. New York Jets - CB Aaron Ross (Texas)...Greg Olsen was one of the players the Jets were targeting... but since he's gone they go for the last of the top four CB's that are left on the board.

26. Philadelphia Eagles - DE Anthony Spencer (Purdue)....The Eagles have several needs on the Defensive side of the ball but filled one of them with the acquisition of Takeo Spikes from the Bills...the team wants to strengthen their Defense and will choose between S Michael Griffin and DE Spencer here...Spencer gets the nod because the Eagles DE's are getting old and their are depth questionmarks at the position...plus...this is a typical Eagles pick devoting a high choice to one of their lines.

27. New Orleans Saints - CB Marcus McCauley (Fresno St.)...Finding a CB to play opposite of Mike McKenzie is one of the teams top priorities this offseason...McCauley is coming off of a dissapointing season but has the talent to warrant this pick.

28. New England Patriots - LB LaMarr Woodley (Michigan) - Trade Down?...The Pats could move down and out of this pick to stockpile choices since they no longer have a second round pick which went to Miami in the Wes Welker trade ...however the team needs to find a couple of LB'er in this Draft and are said to be very high on Woodley and Jon Beason...the Patriots feel Woodley could make the transition from DE to LB in their scheme much like Tedi Bruschi did coming out of Arizona.

29. Baltimore Ravens - OT Joe Staley (Central Michigan)...The Ravens were hoping that Staley was still on the board because their offensive line has taken a hit this offseason with the loss of ROT Tony Pashos to the Jaguars and the release of the often injured OG Edwin Mulitalo..they also aren't sure if Jon Ogden will call it quits or come back for one more season.

30. San Diego Chargers - WR Dwayne Bowe (LSU)...The Chargers WR core needs an upgrade but the team will also be looking for a Safety and a Corner and some depth at the Linebacking position...since Bowe is still on the board he's the pick because eight DB's are already off the board.

31. Chicago Bears - FS Michael Griffin (Texas)...The Bears may be moving up in the Draft if they accept the Redskins offer for Lance Briggs...if they keep Briggs and this pick they have numerous options...the Bears didn't expect Griffin to be on the board and by taking him they will further strengthen their secondary because Daniel Manning can move back to CB.

32. Indianapolis Colts - OLB Jon Beason (Miami-Florida) - Trade Down!...The Colts could move down and out of this pick if the Draft falls this way but they need to find a replacement for Cato June who signed with Tampa as a free agent whether he's on the roster or in the Draft.

I agree! <_<

They can't pass on Willis for anyone in this draft except maybe Peterson.

It's one of the better mock sites out there and one that I visit every year.

That would be great.

But, I doubt he gets by SF.

As note in teh mock, houston is looking to move down, and the Bills will oblige with a 4th rounder to get Willis at #10.

I have no problem with that scenario. Houston may want to move further than 2 places and may get better offers than the #12 and the 4th round pick.

No Lynch in round 1, riigghhht!

His stock is starting to drop.

I've seen him left out of several first round mocks including this one:

NFL.com Kirwan

1. Oakland: Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech -- The Raiders have lots of needs, but as long as quarterback is one of them, they have to respond by selecting the guy with the great deep ball, JaMarcus Russell -- unless the Lions let Josh McCown go for reasonable compensation. The Lions aren't going to give McCown away but a quarterback who has one year left on his deal and didn't play a down last year can't be worth more than a fourth- or fifth-round pick. I'm sure the Raiders would have loved to have McCown in town for their minicamp last week, but no luck. If it gets resolved, then Johnson it will be. Let's go with Johnson, the top-rated player on most draft boards!

2. Cleveland (after trade with Detroit): JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU -- The Lions here could take Russell, Gaines Adams or move down, but it would not surprise me if it is a swap with Cleveland and the Browns take Russell.

3. Detroit (after trade with Cleveland): Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson -- Now that they've traded down, the Lions could go in a lot of directions. I think they'll sit right here and take a quarterback later in the draft. There's a growing sentiment that Brady Quinn is marching back up the draft boards.

4. Arizona (after trade with Tampa Bay): Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin -- There's no reason for the Bucs to move up if Calvin Johnson is gone at the top spot, so now they let the draft come to them. Joe Thomas would be a solid pick for the Bucs even though they have Luke Petitgout, but they will seriously talk about Brady Quinn even though they have Jeff Garcia, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski and maybe Jake Plummer. I say they will move down one spot and let the Cardinals take Thomas.

5. Tampa Bay (after trade with Arizona): Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas -- Brady Quinn is on the board, but I say the Bucs are thinking Anderson. The big defensive end is the eventual replacement for Simeon Rice and the Tampa Bay defense needs an injection of youth. The Bucs would move down again if someone believes Adrian Peterson is the running back Jon Gruden claims is "one of the best ever."

6. **Washington: Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville -- There are a lot of rumors that the Redskins will trade out of this spot if they can get their hands on Chicago linebacker Lance Briggs. If they stay in the No. 6 spot, they could take Branch or LaRon Landry. If Chicago winds up in this spot, it could be for Brady Quinn. For now, Washington will stay put and take Okoye. One former GM said Branch's stock has dropped slightly because of inconsistent effort. Washington should try and move down a few spots if this is true.

7. Minnesota: Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame -- The decision to stay put and not move up pays off for Brad Childress and his staff. Childress gets a solid quarterback who should be a 10-year starter. If Quinn is gone, then the Vikings will turn to a wide receiver. I would entertain all calls from teams looking to jump over the Falcons for LaRon Landry.

8. Atlanta: LaRon Landry, S, LSU -- After trading Matt Schaub, the Falcons now are two spots higher at No. 8 and will take Landry if he's here. He is the best safety in the draft and should be a Week 1 starter. If not, it will be Amobi Okoye. Bobby Petrino is the new head coach and he coached the 19-year-old in college. If Landry and Okoye are not available, then Levi Brown would be a good fit.

Daunte Culpepper and the Dolphins would breath easier with Levi Brown protecting his blind side.

9. Miami: Levi Brown, OT, Penn State -- The Dolphins have not had a real solid left tackle since Richmond Webb. Brown will line up Week 1 in September and won't come off the field for 10 years.

10. Houston: Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma -- Houston moved down two spots in the Schaub trade and probably lost the chance to take Levi Brown, so the Texans call Peterson's name. Even though they signed Ahman Green, Peterson is the highest-rated player on their board at this point. Tampa Bay would sure like a call from Houston to move up. Michael Turner, the Chargers running back who is a restricted free agent, could affect this pick.

11. San Francisco: Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska -- Carriker is a great fit for coach Mike Nolan and his desire to build a solid 3-4 defense with high-character players. He plugs in as a rookie and holds his spot for eight to 10 years.

12. Buffalo: Patrick Willis, LB, Mississippi -- Willis is the best middle linebacker in the draft, and the Bills lost London Fletcher in free agency and traded Takeo Spikes to the Eagles. Willis recently ran under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day and is a tackling machine. Willis can play the Will position and Angelo Crowell can play the Mike. Don't be surprised if Buffalo tries to move down a few spots and save some money with its pick. For example, Carolina could jump up two spots and take Willis while Buffalo drops down for Penn State's Paul Posluszny.

13. **St. Louis: Alan Branch, NT, Michigan -- There has been a lot of debate lately about what the Rams will do here. Last week, I thought Okoye would be available here. However, a big, penetrating tackle is a great value. The Rams never should have let Ryan Pickett go; here's a chance to recover.

14. Carolina: Greg Olsen, TE, Miami (Fla.) -- If the Panthers wanted Willis, they would have moved up, but the Carolina decision makers seem very impressed with Olsen. The Panthers need a linebacker but this crop does not impress them enough. Olsen would help solve Carolina's third-down problems and also help Steve Smith and Keyshawn Johnson.

15. Pittsburgh: Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh -- The Steelers could easily take an outside linebacker here, but the corner might have a higher grade. Mike Tomlin plays Cover 2; corners in zone are not as big a priority as they are for man-coverage teams. But Revis ran a 4.39 and is a solid player. By the way, the Steelers are staying in the 3-4 regardless of the rumors. Lawrence Timmons should get consideration here, but Revis already has worked out in the Steelers' building.

16. Green Bay: Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU -- There is downward pressure on the running backs in this draft. (RB Marshawn Lynch is dropping because of things out of his control.) Bowe would give Favre another big target. The Pack will take a running back in the next round. There will be consideration for a safety like Reggie Nelson.

17. Jacksonville: Reggie Nelson, S, Florida -- Deon Grant is gone, so a starting safety is needed. There will be discussions about other safeties like Michael Griffin, but Nelson's personal workout should make him the choice. The Jaguars could embrace the idea of taking Lawrence Timmons at this spot.

18. Cincinnati: Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas -- The Bengals want a corner or a safety. Houston is a solid pick, but I wonder what kind of offense the team would have if Greg Olsen were selected here.

19. Tennessee: Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC -- Drew Bennett is gone and offensive coordinator Norm Chow needs a few of his "own guys." Jarrett scores touchdowns and is a very big target in the red zone. Some people have Jarrett out of the first round, but here's a guy who scored a touchdown once every five receptions.

20. N.Y. Giants: Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida State -- The free-agent market for linebackers became lean when Cato June signed with the Bucs. The Giants completed a transaction to acquire Kavika Mitchell, the Kansas City free-agent linebacker. But his deal is only for one year, so linebacker is still a priority. If Jarrett is still available, the Giants will think about it, because Amani Toomer is coming off an injury and makes a lot of money. Plaxico Burress can't be a long-term answer when he rarely shows up in the offseason. Jarrett grew up minutes away from Giants Stadium.

21. Denver: Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida -- The Broncos lost out in their pursuit of Patrick Kerney, so Moss makes some sense at this spot.

22. Dallas: Michael Griffin, S, Texas -- The Cowboys will look at the best corners, safeties and wide receivers at this spot. With three or four solid wide receivers and at least two defensive backs left with first-round grades, Jerry Jones will get a good player. A wide receiver like Bowe, Ginn or Jarrett would work if they happened to be on the board.

23. Kansas City: Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State -- The Chiefs really want a great defensive tackle at this spot but the draft board says wait -- because the best are gone. If Ginn does fall to the Chiefs, it will be a big day for the Chiefs offense. He will push the field and create underneath lanes for tight end Tony Gonzalez. He also has eight touchdowns on kick returns, and Dante Hall isn't the player he once was.

24. New England: Leon Hall, CB, Michigan -- The Patriots worked out Hall recently and now he's dropping into their lap. He's too hard to pass up at this point. (Here comes the run on corners.)

25. N.Y. Jets: Aaron Ross, CB, Texas -- The Jets need help in the secondary and on the defensive line, and now that Olsen is gone, they discuss the remaining corners and take Ross.

26. Philadelphia: Marcus McCauley, CB, Fresno State -- The Eagles set up their trade with the Bills by signing free agent Monte Reagor so they could trade Darwin Walker, so now they will turn to a cornerback or safety. They will discuss Jon Beason, Anthony Spencer and Brandon Meriweather before taking one of the biggest corners in the draft and one who can match up with the big NFC East receivers. Some feel Marcus is a second-round pick, but cornerbacks have a way of moving up on draft day.

27. New Orleans: Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan -- The versatile lineman is moving up the board. With Greg Olsen gone and no defensive tackles available, the Saints will take the tackle. I think the Saints might have to move up to get a quality corner, and it's a good idea. Dallas loves to make trades on draft day, and the No. 22 spot would insure a corner could be had.

28. New England: Ryan Kalil, C, USC -- With two first-round picks and a very aggressive offseason in the free-agency market, the Patriots can afford to take the highest-rated center and not worry about the position for a very long time.

29. Baltimore: Anthony Spencer, LB/DE, Purdue -- The Ravens lost Adalius Thomas and are prepared to play with the guys they have on the roster, but Spencer might fall to them and he is a perfect fit as a pressure player.

30. San Diego: Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee -- The Chargers need an injection of young receivers and Meachem looked fast and smooth at the Combine. If he falls to San Diego, this would be a steal for the team. If he doesn't and Dwayne Bowe is available, he's another great choice.

31. Chicago: Jon Beason, OLB, Miami (Fla.) -- Lance Briggs could be traded to Washington. Even if he's not, it doesn't look like Chicago ever intends to do a long-term deal with him. A wide receiver is a possibility, but Beason would solve a more immediate problem.

32. Indianapolis: Tank Tyler, DT, N.C. State -- A bit of a reach here, but DT is a need area. It would not surprise me to see Bill Polian look at a cornerback, safety or outside linebacker here. A DT like Tyler or a corner like Daymeion Hughes? I think the best DT on the board wins out if Willis, Timmons and Beason are gone. Any of those three could replace Cato June.

I have no problem with that scenario. Houston may want to move further than 2 places and may get better offers than the #12 and the 4th round pick.

Besides, I remember someone (just as rooster-sure as you are that we WILL go to #10 and get Willis) posting that Marv would NEVER trade up.

Having been proven wrong, as Marv traded up last year, you might think a person would learn to be a little less certain with their guesses.

Kinda funny, dontcha think?

To Marv's credit, he took the advice of his staff and moved to get the player they wanted and needed.

I can see it happening here in that after Willis there is very little of value that the Bills really need at #12. A 4th rounder is a small price to pay to get someone who they may feel has Urlacher potential in this defense.

His stock is starting to drop.

So I've heard. Maybe we can get lucky and package our 2nd and a 3rd to move up to the end of the first or early second to grab him

1. Houston could trade down with Bills and trade down again for more picks if they wanted.

2. With the 8th pick, Marv did what I predicted. He felt more comfortagble with the sure thing in Whitner rather than risk losing the targetted player in exchange for more picks.

I think Marv will again go hard after the player they want and move up 2 spots to make sure they get him.

what is interesting about Pat Kirwans most recent mock draft are these comments:

http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/10105979

(April 3, 2007) -- After spending a few days with the general managers, coaches and an owner or two at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix last week and some time on the phone this week, I once again have a slightly different perspective about where the draft is headed.

There are still a few critical decisions in free agency and trades that will affect the first round of this draft. Where are Corey Dillon and David Carr headed? Will Lance Briggs and Michael Turner get traded?

Mock Draft No. 6 is, as one GM said to me this week, getting closer to what might happen on draft day. Of course, April 1 is April Fool's Day, and club executives around the league start playing April Fool's jokes all month long about what they might do in the draft.
