Mister Defense Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Actually, I just read most of it for the first time, hadn't seen some. All of those Willis supporters! MartyBall4Buffalo Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 What's done is done but to beat a dead horse one more time. Henry was flat out awful in 2004 willis wasn't and showed a lot of promise. After Willis's 1st 100 yard game that season against the dolphins henry was actualy handed back the starting job for the ravens game that year. He was benched in the 2nd half and Willis took over for the rest of the season. Henry had a chance to put up and stake claim to the job or fold. He folded. People forget just how bad henry was in 2004. He whined and packed it in and deserved to go. I'm happy for him. He had a good season last year and seemed to revive his career, but he was downright awful his final games as a starter for the bills. While Willis showed a lot of promise. I'm as annoyed as anyone it didn't work out. All I hope now is the line is improved and the next rb doesn't have to run behind the same sh------- oline travis or willis did.
gflande1 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 86 post since September 1, 2002????? I thought I was bad
AJ1 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Henry had nothing in '04. He was tripping over his shoelaces. He had no drive, juice, moves or speed. For all intents and purposes, he was done as an NFL high caliber RB to unbiased observers. I see there were a few of the other kind.

Lurker Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 How's that "Travis is a Top Five back" thing working out for you?
Dan Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I love it. The guy plays for 2 years and you come back and say see I told you so. McGehee ultimately may not have worked out here, but I'm fairly certain that he's been more productive than Travis over the last 2 years. I imagine there's some guy in Green Bay just waiting for the day that Favre retires, so he can refer back to a comment he made back when the Pack traded for him and say... see I told you, this guy would never stay here.
MDH Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 It's also worth noting that Willis was a different runner in his first year as a starter. He'd plow over people, lay them out with stiff arms and get tough yards. He ceased doing that once his knee was near 100%. I'd still like the guy if he ran like he did that first year. Unfortunately he doesn't. Though, I will admit that after seeing Willis for a few more years he's no better at blitz pick up and catching the all than Henry was. It's kind of interesting that you'd bring this thread back up as if to show how right you are. Henry a top 5 back? What a joke.

Lori Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Good, Lori, thanks! See above... Umm, you might want to think about including the NFC in those stats. MRW Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I missed the part where Lori correcting your misleading statistics meant she was a fan of Willis.
Lori Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 And we got rid of him, for your man, Willis: My man Willis? That may be the funniest thing I've ever read on here: Watching him since the Miami game last year, it seems he gets dinged about once a game with a scare. I know he always returns, however theres gonna be a time he doesnt. Everytome the guy carries the ball....I think wether we admit it or not....theres alot of Bills fans holding their breath. do you all feel its a coincidence or just that he's injury prone/never fully healed after that injury? You've noticed that too, eh? That's why I'm watching the battle for #2 RB so closely...and also why I argued against trading Henry during the season last year (before HIS injury made that a moot point). I like Joe Burns, but I have no desire to see him start at RB again. What I think: Willis has proven his toughness by coming back not once, but twice, from ACL injuries. But I get the idea that he'll come off the field for any minor tweak, almost like he needs the docs to reassure him he's OK before he goes back in the game and starts pounding on the defense again. THIS MIGHT BE WORTH MENTIONING ALSO, WILLIS IS IN MIAMI IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER, WORKING HIS ASS OFF. i just thought that might help out when others question his attitude and work ethic. !@#$ mini camp. that sh-- is for the rooks! 685359[/snapback] Not when your brand-new coaching staff is trying to install a brand-new offense. For the record, I had the same reaction when Travis skipped one of Mularkey's first minicamps two years ago. As with Henry, I'm not worried about McGahee showing up for training camp out of shape -- that's never been a problem with either player. But I'd rather not see WMcG wait until training camp to start getting some reps in Fairchild's offense, either. JMO. Coulda had Dallas Clark with that pick, BADOL... ...sigh... (Then again, maybe he would've been the one trying to block Freeney on the most important play of the game, no?)
mead107 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 so lori , what do you think about whats been done so far ? will it help JP and the run game ?
cåblelady Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 will it help JP and the run game ? JP's gonna run? Cool.
ChasBB Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I was a supporter -- not so much that he did that much, but mainly because I wanted to at least give the guy a chance. There were lots of people who wanted to trade the guy as soon as his knee healed and before he ran a single down and I didn't understand this -- I wanted to at least see what he could do before shipping him off -- who really could have known it would all happen like this? In any event, I'm glad to see him go now. Actually, I just read most of it for the first time, hadn't seen some. All of those Willis supporters! Hopefully you have learned your lesson--stats, facts, and logic, or BUST! My, how the tune changed... http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=8108&st=0
Lori Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 so lori , what do you think about whats been done so far ? will it help JP and the run game ? Unlike John Clayton, I really like Dockery. Remember how a majority of the run plays went to the left side after Peters was moved over there? Be prepared for a lot more of that this year. And if DD can manage to play well enough to not end up on the bench -- as happened to our starting LG in each of the last three seasons, or ever since Ruben Brown departed -- JP should finally have some room in the pocket. Walker? IMO, he needs to prove he's worth the beaucoup $$$$ RCWjr. forked over. He has the potential to (literally and figuratively) be a massive upgrade over Pennington at RT... but you know what they say about 'potential'. I learned my lesson with Joe Panos; no more predictions of OL greatness from me... RB? I'm okay with trading a guy who didn't really want to be here... but as I noted before the deal went down, I hope they have a good replacement in mind. I'd like to see a first-day draft pick and at LEAST one veteran FA in here by minicamp.
