truth on hold Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 By Bob Bensch March 9 (Bloomberg) -- Former Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes signed with the Oakland Raiders, leaving th Super Bowl champions for the team with the worst record in the National Football League last season. The Raiders didn't disclose terms of the contract. The NFL's Web site reported it was a two-year agreement worth $7.5 million. Michael S. McCartney, Rhodes's agent, didn't return a voice-mail message left at his office. Rhodes, 28, rushed for 641 yards and five touchdowns in 16 regular season games for the Colts last season. He then ran for 306 yards in the postseason, including 113 yards and one score as the Colts beat the Chicago Bears 29-17 in the title game. ``I just want to come in and help this team win,'' Rhodes said in the team's statement. ``It's an honor to be here and an awesome experience to play for the Raiders.'' Rhodes, 28, had 2,274 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns during his six seasons with the Colts. He's also returned 119 kickoffs for 2,810 yards and two touchdowns and caught 90 passes for 649 yards and a score. The Colts ranked second in the NFL with 427 points last season, while the Raiders scored a league-low 168 points in going 2-14. Oakland also ranked last in the 32-team league in total offense at 246 yards per game and was 29th in rushing at 95 yards per contest. ``Dominic will be a dynamic presence that can diversify our offense both as a runner and pass catcher,'' new Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said. Rhodes will likely split time in the backfield with Lamont Jordan, who played in nine games last season after rushing for a team-high 1,025 yards in 2005.

truth on hold Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 LOL, i know, silly, this is third thread on it today. i just wanted to know why anyone would think rhodes is really worth a schit? he's versatile. he can run with speed and power and also catch passes. also at 28 he has some good years left. he's also coachable as shown playing in the colts complex system and he does what he's asked and doesn't let his ego get in the way. i see him as superior to the other alternatives of dillon, brown and whats his name. problem now with any alternative vs keeping mcgahee is cost. mcgahee was only $2MM and 1 year, whereas it looks like any combination to replace him will be at least double that and for more than 1 year.
K-Gun10 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I think this is going to make L. Jordan better if anyone, i never felt like he was good enough to carry the load when he was in new york he had Curtis Martin and that made him look good with tired defenses maybe what some people think with Micheal Turner.
Gotta Dream Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 If this isn't all about the money, then I don't know what is. From first to last. Wow......
OCinBuffalo Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 GOOD! I had this guy, along with Addai in fantasy so obviously I paid attention to how he did all season - not great. The super bowl was definitely an anomaly.

Whew, dodged a bullet. Now if only Dillion will sign with someone else I won't have to have that dIckhead on my favorite team.
