San-O Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Buffalo traded up to get McCargo, and basically got zero production from it. I'm not big fan of trading away picks unless you're already a solid playoff team. Bills haven't had a sniff in 7 years? So . new year , better things will happen
2003Contenders Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Obviously, the verdict is still out on McCargo. If he develops into a serviceable starting DT, the trade up will have been worth it.

And your point is what exactly?
erynthered Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Go ahead and look back year to year. There are a few players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I already did this yesterday after the WM trade. Have fun. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history Drafts (1982-2006) 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 By round, team, position, school and alphabetical
ajzepp Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 McCargo sucks. Why is he still on the roster? My thoughts exactly. sh-- or get off the pot with this guy, already.
San-O Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 And your point is what exactly? If you're going to spend additional picks, you better get something more than a "serviceable starting DT". See Ryan Denney, and possibly John McCargo. IMO: I think you improve your odds of getting a good player more, by having additional picks, than trading up to get a player you like/want.
Billsjunkie Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Denney actually was a very good player for us last year. I wouldn't knock the pick now.
San-O Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 Denney actually was a very good player for us last year. I wouldn't knock the pick now. Not good enough to be a starter on one of the weakest D-lines in the league.
Billsjunkie Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I swear some of you kill me. So every 1st and 2nd rounder has to be a starter? Boy we would be cutting or demoting people left and right than if thats the case. Denney was very sound in run support and actually was our leading pass rusher in a couple games.
DC Tom Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I swear some of you kill me.So every 1st and 2nd rounder has to be a starter? Yep. Which is why winning is such a disaster for the franchise...

Yes, that's kind of the general idea. Really. I looked it up.

So because the pick we traded up for got INJURED, we should hesitate before trading up now? Doesn't make sense considering that the reason we got no production from that pick was that the player got INJURED.
ndirish1978 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Wait, so he got INJURED cause we traded up for him?! Just imagine if we had traded all our picks for 7th rounders. We could have gotten like 30 new guys in the draft and none of them would have gotten injured. it's foolproof!
