He'd be in the same situation he was in in New England. That's my theory, anyway. Maybe they did make an offer to Brown, who knows. Right on target. He would gain nothing out of this since he was the one who asked to be released in the first place - because of Maroney. This is just spin so that he doesn't look bad/not a team guy.
