lawnboy1977 Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Looks like The Sox plan on using Schilling 3 times this series, because lets face it, it's going 7 games. I think it's a good choice since Curt has a proven track record in the playoffs, and of course beating the Yankees. If need be, Francona could pull a page out of Bob Brenly's book a la Randy Johnson by using Martinez in relief in Game 7, if Pedro is ready to do so. If course, Johnson was able to go in that game 7 because Arizona won game 6 14-0.
wwovince Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I still dont think the series is going 7 i say 5-6 Red Sox win it.
Pete Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I hope if it goes 7 the Sox do use Pedro. We all know who his daddy is and it will be at his Daddys house!
wwovince Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 You Spankee fans will find out who is whos daddy baby!!
SilverNRed Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 The only reason to bet against the Red Sox is they're the Red Sox. You put this roster in any other uniform and they're picked to win by every sportswriter in the nation. Schilling 3 times in a 7 game series? On a bad ankle? The Red Sox do know there's a series *after* this one, right? I mean, if they win, that is.
kasper13 Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Actually, if you read the USA Today or the NY or Boston papers today, Terry Francona already said Schilling is not pitching three games in the ALCS. Red Sox are going with a 4 man rotation- Schilling, Pedro, Arroyo and Wakefield. Schilling has tendinitis in his right ankle and he is going to pitch tommorrow with the ankle heavily taped and shot up with some heavy painkiller called Marcaine. Red Sox said they will use every treatment they can to get Schilling through his start tommorrrow and Game 5 and that this injury is not related to the deep bone bruise on the same ankle Schilling suffered earlier in the season. My pick was Yankees in 7. With Schilling hurting, I'll take NY in 5. Everybody knows Pedro can't beat the Yankees. So, the only hope Boston has is Wakefield and we all know how he fared with his last pitch in the ALCS against NY last year.

BF_in_Indiana Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I have to laugh. You guys getting hyped up over the consilation prize of finishing second place. Glad you fans in NY and Boston are happy finishing second, because that's what is going to happen.

See unlike Yankees fans we respect our rivalries with the Astros and Cubs. NO MATTER WHO wins the NLCS, they are my pick in the World Series. If the Stros are good enough to beat us in the NLCS then they are good enough to win it all, period.
