You know, I never have understood why Mort isn't a GM for some team somewhere.

I've never understood why he's not an NFL analyst for a major sports network...

Without expressing any like or dislike for the guy, what Mort actually said on the radio was that the Bills could have signed Nate to a $45 million deal last year instead of franchising him. He basically said that the Bills would have been better off spending the big bucks on a lockdown cornerback last year than a left guard this year.

Actually, I like his input, I think he brings a behind the scenes look at football, pretty well. Unlike TD. Weather or not you "arm chair QB's" agree with his decisions while he was a GM, means you'll have a better shot at that application you just sent in. :censored:

And Casserly was also the one that said J.P. was not even in the same "league" as Rex Grossman. Casserly is as useless as Mort.

Passing on Vince Young or Reggie Bush as the Texans GM will forever tar Casserly's credibility.

Yea, too bad Mort's buddy TD didn't sign Nate to an extension before he became a free agent -- and new GM Marv was forced to use the Franchise Tag.

I think there were two reasons the Bills didn't sign Nate last year: first, they wanted a full team in camp for the new staff, something they've admitted; second, they probably knew they wanted Youboty and expected him to get more playing time this past year. Had Youboty gotten more playing time beyond the Jets, maybe a lot of the speculation about giving up Nate would be moot. In hindsight, it's easy to say the corner position is in trouble. That's the beautiful thing about hindsight...everyone is right.

that's great and all.. but first we needed to find a lockdown corner to give that cash to.

Strap on the Fender Twin Reverb, turn the reverb knob to max, repeat the following words, and your vision will sharpen to a crystal clarity

Nate...... Nate....... Nate...... Odomes..... Odomes....... Odomes....... Free agent... Free agent.... Free agent... West coast team.... West coast team...... West coast team...... Cornerback.... Cornerback....... Cornerback...... overpaid..... overpaid..... overpaid.... basketball.... basketball..... basketball... IR.... IR...... IR.....

Not wishing ill will here but when you have been on this planet as long as I have and you have been a Bills fan as long as I have you develop a certain sense of Karma about this zit. Again, no ill will to NC but this is not going to go well for SF. Somebody mark this post because you will wish you had when you go looking for it within nine months.

Peace.

GO BILLS.

Clements is a high quality cb who covered the opponent's best receivers. I'd feel better about the whole thing if Terrence McGee played the way he was expected to after signing an extension. The guy flat out sucked as a cb last year, and was exploited mercilessly until the Bills finally started moving Clements around the field so he would match up with the No. 1 wideouts.

Regardless, I disagree. No CB is going to help us establish a running game or stop an opposing team's running game. IMO, a lockdown CB is something you get after you're able to run and stop the run, not before.

Let's just assume Nate actually stopped every pass that came his way. He even intercepted a few balls. So what? We still can't convert on 3rd and 1 to extend the drive in the 4th quarter. The other team gets the ball and runs 5 straight plays right into field goal position, and wins the game. Sound familiar.

Nate, as good as he was or is, was not getting this team over the hump and into the playoffs. He was here long enough to single handedly do that several times. Why spend that much on him? It's nonsensical.

Mort probably makes a really nice salary second guessing people.

You're always 100% right if you aren't the one held accountable.

Mort is about as useless as CBS's NFL Today "General Manager" Charlie Casserly.

Rocket Scientist Casserly gets credit for picking Mario Williams over Vince Young / or Reggie Bush.

Armchair analysts like Mort and Casserly are useless windbags

OMG do we miss Charlie here in Houston.........we loved him as GM and damn it all we lost him to CBS NFL Today :censored:

Bills should have paid Clements - a premiere corner - all the money Dockery got and should have never let him go.

I don't believe this. I don't believe he got Donahoes di-- out of his mouth long enough to say this, unless he was getting some back door action. :censored:

Yeah, and he'll never be remembered for helping the Washington Redskins win a couple of Super Bowls. Ever hear of Joe Jacoby and Jeff Bostic? They sucked, thats for sure. Also those kids that became rookies of the year, Houston was the only team to draft two Rookies of the Year. Domanick Davis, Dunta Robinson and two starting Pro Bowlers Andre Johnson, Jerome Mathis.

Yup, he surely sucked.

-Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com forecast a Super Bowl of Dallas over Cincinnati; neither won a playoff game. Mort predicted New Orleans would be the league's worst team at 2-14; the Saints reached the NFC championship. "The Bengals won't just tear it up offensively, their defense will play at a higher level," Mortensen wrote; Cincinnati finished 30th on defense.

Wouldn't hang that one on Mort. The B'gal were notable on defense for the 1st 3 games, then in ensuing weeks lost the entire starting LB corps with injury, and also the services for 4 or more games by SS Jackson and CB O'Neal.

Not to mention the nitwit gameday management of an idiot DC, and a HC who lost the ability to tell time...

Does anybody else think that Charlie Casserly is really a ventriloquist's wooden dummy ? He just comes off as stiff as a wooden doll !
