stuckincincy Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Saw it this past Saturday. It's about William Wilberforce and his years of tireless effort - ultimately successful - and the long support of William Pitt, to end the legality of slavery across the British Empire.
plenzmd1 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Yep, pretty good movie...I agree. PBS did a documentary type thing on the song I would say about 3 years ago. Enjoyed immensly. I also recall first hearing about the origins of the song I believe on an arlo Guthrie live album, but am a little foggy on those details, as that was in my "experimentation" phase
bbb Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I saw that PBS documentary. I love that song so much. I told people it's about the only song that I could watch a whole hour on...........Well, maybe Born To Run, too.
GoodBye Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I love the bagpipe version of the song they did at the end of the movie!

OnTheRocks Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 this was a very good movie. i enoyed it. a lot of people might avoid it thinking it is a religous pic, but it has little or nothing to do with religion and everything to do about the history of the fight to abolish slavery.
