JStranger76 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I like the kid like most but the best he will be is a very good nickle back who also is a good kick returner. He isn't fast enough to be on the field full time. I do agree that he is a good athlete and I like how he plays but he should never be a starter.

Magee = very good player with little experience
bartshan-83 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I disagree. I think it is way too early to determine that he will never be starting caliber. I think he has filled in pretty well and with more experience who knows how he will develop. He does seem to have a bit of a nose for the ball. peace
JStranger76 Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 Time will tell fellas but I also think he is too short to be on the field full time. He does seem to have a nose for the ball Bart which is why I do think he will develope into an outstanding nickle back. He is also a liability vs. the deep ball, so far...............
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I think mcgee could end up being a pretty good solid starting corner with some more experience. I disagree that he's not fast enough to play full time. The kids a football player imo, and like the saying goes a pass rush is a defensive backs best friend. Terrance Mcgee doesn't have to be chris mcallister or charles woodson, but with an improved pass rush by going after someone like... no scratch that, by going after John Abraham in the offseason Terrance Mcgee would be a pretty good corner. We didn't get lit up for 300+ passing yards cause our secondary is bad, we got lit up for 300+ cause we have no pass rush to force the qb into making quicker decisions.
kasper13 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 The reality is that he is the starter because we have nobody else. What can they do? I do think he is good enough to be a starter in the future and the experience of starting now will only help that along.
Mike in Syracuse Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 A smidgen of pass rush would sure help him out a lot. Unfortunately all we have is a couple of "high motor" guys who think that the quickest way to get to the QB is to start with a 45 yard loop. Pfffft.

Pfffft. 65962 Yeah, the pass rush is not very good right now. No consistency from ANY of them, including Schobel.

I was noticing that too...WTF is going on with that.....they are making it SOO EASY for the O Linemen.....just keep them moving to the fricken outside and they might be lucky if they grab a damn jersey.........
R. Rich Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 It's just plain laziness in a lot of cases, John. It's easier to try to run around an offensive lineman than trying an inside stunt move or taking the lineman on.
Wacka Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 God, some of you guys want to blow a wad of FA money on defense, when what we need to do is get O-linemen next year. If the offense could score at least 1 more TD a game. we'd be 4-0.
The Jokeman Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I agree that McGee isn't worth being a full time starter at CB right now. Yet with more experience he could be. As let's remember although McGee played some CB in college but he was primarly a FS and return man. While he has had his ups and downs as a starter thus far he might eventually be worth starting at CB (maybe as soon as years end, if he ends up starting all year). In a perfect world he'd be our nicklel CB and return specialist but as we've seen so far this season has been far from what anyone imagined.
Campy Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 <snip>..... than trying an inside stunt move or taking the lineman on. 66037 Stunts aren't "moves," they're pass rush calls. But an inside swim move would be a pleasant change - your point is well taken.

If the offense could score at least 1 more TD a game. we'd be 4-0. 66120 Or conversly if the defense gave up 1 less TD a game we'd might be 4-0. (I know not realistic and I really like how the D is playing and think the offense has to improve). As unless your defense is pitching out shutouts each week it could always be improved.
Pete Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I disagree. Mcgee is a playmaker and an unbeleivable athlete. He is from a small school and is making a tremendous jump in terms of competition but pure athleticism allows him to make plays. I am not sure where you get he is not that fast from. Mcgee is a burner! He also leads teh NFL in kickoff returns which is a testament to that,
TigerJ Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 The Baltimore defense scores touchdowns on a fairly regular basis. That would be nice. Regarding McGee, I think he just needs experience. Fortunately we're playing Miami next Sunday. Sage Rosenfels is no Chad Pennington. Miami's receivers are pretty good, but you have to have a QB that can get them the ball before they can become dangerous.
CosmicBills Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 He isn't fast enough to be on the field full time. 65930 McGee is faster than anyone else in our secondary.
TigerJ Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 McGee is plenty fast enough. On that we agree, tgreg. Clements is very fast too, but I think the fastest guy is the #5 CB (#4 while Vincent is hurt) Jabari Greer. He is world class.

Why, because you say? That's been the primary problem with the player development on this team. We always buy big name talent that's seen better days and ignore our young guys. No wonder we're in last place!
JStranger76 Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 I know he can return kicks, so can other guys without world class speed. Where I get the "he is not fast enough from" is when the faster recievers get behind him quite easily. This is not lack of expirience, it is just he isn't fast enough to stay with the speedier recievers. I do like him though. Mr. guest, I know because I've see it with my own two eyes.
