The only mistake that Marv made was attempting to provide the fans with a realistic update on the team.

Due to the huge flock of negative nancies masquerading as Bills fans, he would have been far better off to follow the Teflon Tom approach of keeping the fans in the dark.

So the Bills will be operating under a budget-

wow - what a surprise.

The only diff is now the fans know what the budget number is.

The end-of-the-world attitude is just amazing.

OB1, you have to keep this in the context of a team that hasn't been in the playoffs this decade. If we were the Patriots and were whining about not winning the Superbowl in two years and having to spend on budget, it would be different.

Also, you never know if this is just a ploy by Ralph to get more revenue sharing money, not an absolute necessity. Bottom line, how could any fan be happy with anything that doesn't help this team win?

109 million dollars spread out amongst 53 guys with bonuses should still provide some good entertainment I would think.

Well said.

I don't see why so many people are gung ho about signing big name free agents. TD signed a bunch of them to cover up his poor drafting and it got us nowhere.

Another solid draft and some judicious FA signings will make us a playoff contender.

well we must be "improved"this off season as compared to last season.last off season all the posts were about should it be kelly or jp losman starting and is ralph seanile for hiring marv levy and how much dick jauron was the worst coaching hire since mike mularky.that is a sign of improvement.last season the players needed to be picked up were obvious.this season we really have no idea which way this team is headed in the draft(im not saying we knew donte whitner was going to be drafted)but there was a plan for last seasons rebuilding.i like where the the bills are headed.even with the cash to cap scenaro we will still end up with some good football players.they may not be big name players, but i trust our staff has a good idea on how we will sign free agents and draft.go bills in"07

Donahoe was very good at managing the fan base. He made big signings or draft deals every year that made news in the middle of the off-season. This gave the bills obsessed message boards and talk radio stations something to talk about.

The current management team seems to be more concerned with winning than making big news. They are also being honest with their fans about how they plan to do this. Everybody claims to want management to be honest but it makes for a less interesting off-season.

Just another thought, the agents for the players don't care about previous press releases. They only care about the dollars and terms of the contract being offered for their client. Just like when you put in an offer for a house. The agents involved couldn't care a less about anything else except if the terms are acceptable and you can close escrow successfully.

Donohoe was good at a lot of things, he was just a prick and he made a couple of woeful choices. Simply put, if he would not have drafted Mike Williams, would have signed Pat Williams, and hired a good coach instead of the two friggin' abortions, we would very likely be in the playoffs, one of the better teams in the league, and he would still be here.

Where is TD now ? Is he still unemployed ? If so, that is a telling fact in this NFL world of retreads.

Anyone who can get a million-plus per year doing a fun thing like being the GM of a sports gig hasn't made a mistake. <_<
