K-Gun10 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 how bout the bills move back to a 3-4 if we keep fletcher which i think we need to, we have the lbs for it in fletch, ellison, crowell, and spikes and this way we can rotate our subpar dts in and out.

I like this less than your Tyrone Calico idea.

Pat Williams is a Viking now, remember?
nichebiche Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 that would be a great idea had we just named Wade Phillips as coach and we hadn't just spent the past year converting the roster to the Tampa-2 Def system. yes, switch gears after a year -- i guess not all ideas are good ones....
tennesseeboy Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Why don't we draft a non-subpar DT instead? Okoye comes to mind.

Other than the fact that we have exactly zero defensive linemen suitable to play a traditional 3-4, I think it's a great idea...
obie_wan Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Other than the fact that we have exactly zero defensive linemen suitable to play a traditional 3-4, I think it's a great idea... and our LBs are too small as well

silvermike Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 It's a myth that you need lesser linemen to play a 3-4 than you do for a 4-3. It's just the opposite. You still need basically the same performance from your offensive line, but now they have to do it with three people. That's why successful 3-4 teams often use DTs at defensive end: take the Patriots, who start Seymour, Warren, and Wilfork on the front line. ALL defensive tackles. With the extra linebacker, you gain flexibility, not relief for the line. If you can't do it with two DTs, you're sure as hell not gonna with one.
In space no one can hear Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 ...and K-Gun10 slinks away to think long and hard about his next attempt at starting a topic on TSW. This is all part of his initiation on the board. If he does his homework and comes back with a stronger post, ready to document his case I feel he will be given the acceptance that he seeks. I'm rooting for him. We are all family here at TBD after all.

Sandy Eggo's the same way; all three of their starting linemen weigh in over the 300lb mark...
The Jokeman Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Other than the fact that we have exactly zero defensive linemen suitable to play a traditional 3-4, I think it's a great idea... I disagree I think Denney could play DE in a 3-4.
In space no one can hear Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I disagree I think Denney could play DE in a 3-4. Your right. He would be better as a 3-4 end. Especially with C. Bennett rushing the passer from the olb position behind him.

In space no one can hear Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 You really are trying to beat my 113 posts. No. I don't deserve that honor. I respect those that came before me...and will fall short ever so slightly.
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 No. I don't deserve that honor. I respect those that came before me...and will fall short ever so slightly. Me too. I don't deserve that honor either. What I would like to see is someone post 200 posts. That would be something.

I would like to know what character traits that person would possess- and what drove them to greatness...or would it be madness??
Dr. Fong Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Wow the first 3-4 post of the offseason. Is if that time already?
