Stretch is a class A hypocrite.

She's part of a partnership that owns a golf course in San Martin , CA, just south of San Jose. As part of building the course, they had to be sure to put certain things in so the tiger salamander wouldn't be hurt and 60 % of the rounds have to be public.

They never did anything for the tiger salamander habitat and you can play, but it will cost you $390 a round! If you know a member, then it's $90.

Her and her husband own a winery and several restaurants. She gets a bundle in campaign money from unions, but the winery and all the restaurants are non-union.

Hassert had a small jet he used to go to Chicago. A few times he took his wife and kids with him back and forth.

Stretch wants a 737 and carry 40 people!

Give her a Prius and Depends. If there good enough for astronauts, they're good enough for her!

Just a few facts:

The Speaker of the House is 2nd in succession to the President, after the VP. After 9/11, Hastert as Speaker was given the use of a C-20 Aircraft to fly to his home district in Illinois. The C-20 does not have the range to make it to California without refueling. As a result, her staff inquired about alternative aircraft that are capable of flying the 2800 mi from DC to Calif. Seems like a reasonable request.

What has happened is that Republicans have jumped on it and created a bogus story. According to ABC News, House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., seems to be the one who first publicly raised the notion that the plane Pelosi requested is the C-32, which has a stateroom on board.

Republican Conference Chairman Adam Putnam of Florida started telling reporters that "she wants a jumbo Jet."

The need for a "bigger jet" is not the issue. Its the demands for 42 leather seats, staterooms, entertainment centers and a crew of 16, with a total cost of $300,000 PER ROUND TRIP FLIGHT.

Thats just plain old obscene. You know it, I know it.

That's the part that is bogus. She has not made any of these requests. She asked for alternatives to the plane that cannot fly non-stop to Calif. and from there the Republicans have created a story. The plane that you describe was brought up by Roy Blunt not Pelosi. All her staff said is that the C-20 that Hastert used is not feasible due to its lack of range. From there the Republicans have run with it.

How about she flies commercial, like every other member of congress, hrm?

After 9/11 the Speaker of the House, who follows the VP in Presidential sucession, was given their own Air Force jet for security reasons.

So there's nothing sinister or corrupt about Pelosi having her own jet. Hastert had one too

What gets me is she's demanding a better plane

No, she wants a plane that can fly from DC to Calif without stopping to refuel. Seems like a reasonable request.

To me, it doesn't seem like a reasonable request no matter who makes it. I can't think of any reason any member of Congress would need an Air Force jet at their disposal.

It doesn’t surprise me that the GOP and their minions would consider this a Page One story, as they certainly haven’t had any experience practicing legitimate oversight in well over seven years, and clearly wouldn’t recognize an actual controversy now. Let them continue to hop up and down and manufacture fact-less drivel to be eaten up and disseminated by their lapdogs in the media, while the Dems practice real oversight, uncover real corruption, uncover real incompetence, and uncover real abuse of power. We'll let the American people decide in two years whether knocking Pelosi for requesting the same service her predecessor had, or uncovering why $12 billion cash was shipped into a war zone have the same controversial weight.

Why? Evidently she or her mouthpeice is saying that they don't want to stop for "security reasons".

We are talking about U.A.S.F. planes...which don't normally stop at O'Hare Airport to refuel.

I believe U.S.A.F. bases are "secure" refueling sites. No delays, either...
