Hello all, I am sorry for not posting the movies of January, I was unable to preview the cinematic materpieces known as, "Catch & Release", "Stomp the Yard", "Freedom Writers", "Primeval", "Blood & Chocolate", "Arthur & The Invisibles", "Happily N'Ever After", "Alpha Dog", "Epic Movie", & "Smokin' Aces". Instead we head into February, and with the Oscar nominated films drawing very little interest, the studios are hoping for a big boost in the box office before we hit Spring.

Columbia has it's big money on it's comic book turned movie "Ghost Rider". Nicolas Cage plays Johnny Blaze a former stunt motorcyclist who makes a deal with the devil where his body becomes host to a vengeful spirit. Eva Mendes, Sam Elliott, & Wes Bentley co-star. Despite the big budget, the movie looks like it will be heading towards the Daredevil route instead of the Spider-Man, X-Men route. Purists will not like the huge emphasis of the romantic story they are putting into this. Add in the fact that this movie went from being an August 2006 film to a February 2007 film is not a very good sign.

Jim Carrey unveils his dark side in "The Number 23". This story is about a man who becomes obsessed with a book that appears to be based on his life, though it concludes with a tragedy that has yet to occur in the present.

Virginia Madsen co-stars. What worked for Robin Williams in One Hour Photo & Insomnia, may just work for Carrey here.

After a Golden Globe win and an Oscar Nomination for Dreamgirls, Eddie Murphy heads back to comedy with "Norbit". Norbit is a mild-mannered guy (Murphy) who is engaged to a monstrous woman ( also Murphy), but meets the woman of his dreams (Thandie Newton), and schemes to find a way to be with her. Murphy has had success in playing multiple roles before, but will the audience find his performances funny or offensive?

Hugh Grant is a washed-up singer & Drew Barrymore is a talented lyricist. Together they bring together the right song for a teen dream band, and some romance for themselves as well, in "Music & Lyrics".

Silver N Red's leading lady Mandy Moore, Diane Keaton, Lauren Graham, & Piper Perabo star in "Because I Said So". Keaton plays the meddling mother who enlists her two daughters ( Graham & Perabo) to find the perfect man for the baby of the family (Moore).

From the "Did we need another movie in this series?" department comes "Hannibal Rising". The stor of how young Hannibal Lecter came to be.

Based on a true story, Aspiring FBI agent Eric O'Neill ( Ryan Phillippe) is handpicked by a senior agent ( Chris Cooper) to work alongside him, only to discover his mentor might be the country's greatest security risk, in "Breach".

An astronaut (Billy Bob Thornton) who opts to retire in order to save his family farm begins to tinker on a rocket in his barn, in "The Astronaut Farmer".

In "Black Snake Moan", A God-fearing bluesman (Samuel L. Jackson) takes to a wild young woman (Christina Ricci) who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it.

Two new friends create an imaginary land in order to deal with their real-world problems, in the fantasy "Bridge to Terabithia".

In "Reno 911!: Miami", The Washoe County Sheriff's Department of Reno, Nevada is summoned to Miami Beach after a terrorist plot disrupts the city's national police convention.

A family makes a big mistake when they move from Chicago to a haunted Sunflower farm in North Dakota, in "The Messengers".

Thanks, Mark!

There are a few in there that I'm looking forward to checking out....even though I've never seen the tv show, I'm dying to see that 'Reno 911' flick. When a preview can have me lauging out loud, that's a good sign - as long as the preview doesn't contain ALL the funny parts of a movie.

On a side note, Flyboys just came out on DVD a week or two ago, and I wanted to give that film a quick thumbs up. Lots of great action and based on historic events prior to our involvement in WWI. I really enjoyed this one.
