JinVA Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 have you heard them before? the first one (self titled) captures more of what the band is supposed to be all about, imho. My mistake. I'm actually downloading the album you're speaking of , not the new one.

dpbillsfan Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I am very pro-burning and sharing great music with everyone, thank you I'm not going to go on a rant about downloading music for free, but it does effect the people that make the CD's. I lost my job of 15 years becuase the demand for CD's is going down. Now I don't blame anyone because its just as much fault of the music labels for signing crappy artist as anything I just think its wrong.

Pete Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 BTW I have over 1000 CDs-lots of LPs-lots of burned music. If anyone wants me to burn them anything PM me! BTW me and a few TBDers have been burning discs for each other for years. Let me know if you are looking for anything.....

Good counter point and your probably right. I guess I'm more bummed that people don't see a problem with downloading it for free. I'm sure alot of people are going to disagree but that my two cents.
dpbillsfan Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Do you want me to burn a disc for you? I have lots of great music! That post almost made me spit out my beer...that was funny!
JinVA Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 My mistake. I'm actually downloading the album you're speaking of , not the new one. WTF happened to my screen name.... :wallbash: :worthy: a little help here please!!!!
DrDawkinstein Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 Good counter point and your probably right. I guess I'm more bummed that people don't see a problem with downloading it for free. I'm sure alot of people are going to disagree but that my two cents. i feel you. im sure the people hardest hit were the record stores. but ill say this, after being in bands and working for a couple of major touring bands and working for a record label... i probably wont ever buy another CD again for the rest of my life. but thats just me. EDIT: ESPECIALLY for $35
apuszczalowski Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I haven't bought a CD in about 10 years, and don't plan on buying any in the future. Oh well, back to listening to my freshly burnt copy of Nickelbacks "all the right reasons" CD. Its a good cd I download free music, and I also purchase cds. The problem is, when they charge $15 for a cd and the only thing good on it is the song the released for radio play. Too many record company's are throwing out contracts to mediocre/crappy bands and bands are not making quality albums anymore because they are always rushing too put a disk out. I don't feel bad for the musicians and music industry losing money because if the band is good and they put togehter a decent album, I will buy a copy, but if theres only 1-2 decent songs on it, I'm not spending $15 on it
DrDawkinstein Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 i should also note that while i "steal" music regularly, i go to about 75-100 shows a year and buy plenty of merch from artists i like. and thats really the only way to give cash to an artist you appreciate.
beerme1 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I pay about $6 per cd on average from BMG. They dont have everything I want but I am not about to gripe about $6 I wonder if you people who are downloading freebies etc. are the same ones who complain about ticket prices to concerts? If I were an artist, I would probably be pissed that in the modern era I have to charge big bucks for performances because I am getting hosed on the cd end of business and concerts are the only way to make your money now. Not bitchin, just sayin. Inside tip, if you want to see cheap shows, keep looking at Falls Casino's on both sides of the border. I caught Robert Cray for $20 and was in the second row. Just amazing. I have enjoyed some great shows at both cassinos over the last two years that were pretty cheap.
Chilly Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Of course, Artists don't make sh-- from online sales. Just ask Weird Al. How, exactly, are you getting CDs from BMG for 6 bucks? That I would actually pay for.
Tux of Borg Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I can't figure out why sales are slumping. The Billboard Hot 100 1 Beyonce 2 Fall Out Boy 3 Nelly Furtado 4 Daughtry 5 Akon Featuring Snoop Dogg 6 Gwen Stefani Featuring Akon 7 Ludacris Featuring Mary J. Blige 8 Jim Jones 9 Fergie 10 Justin Timberlake
