ricojes Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 This is pretty typical of the NFL.... Church Denied!!!
DC Tom Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 This is pretty typical of the NFL.... Church Denied!!! Uhhhh...what? There's a 55" limit on the size of the TV you can show the Super Bowl on?
dpbillsfan Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 This is pretty typical of the NFL.... Church Denied!!! I don't see what the big deal is by showing it for free, but they shoudn't have been trying to make a buck off of it in the first place.
buckeyemike Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I wondered why my church wasn't having a Super Bowl party this year, because using a projector is exactly what we've done the past two years.
KD in CA Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league's long-standing policy is to ban "mass out-of-home viewing" of the Super Bowl. An exception is made for sports bars and other businesses that show televised sports as a part of their everyday operations. that show televised sports as a part of their everyday operations??? How about: that support billions in network TV ad spending by selling copius amounts of beer. I'll bet if they had a giant TV screen showing the game in a GM plant, the NFL wouldn't be sending threatening letters.
Taro T Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 that show televised sports as a part of their everyday operations??? How about: that support billions in network TV ad spending by selling copius amounts of beer. I'll bet if they had a giant TV screen showing the game in a GM plant, the NFL wouldn't be sending threatening letters. Maybe. But a few years back the Bills showed the Fish game down in Miami in the Field House. Some portion of the proceeds went to Roswell Park. They were going to make it an annual thing but the league made them stop doing it claiming that having a corner of the Field House packed with fans hurt the TV ratings.
Ramius Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 The NFL is definitely getting too full of itself. Banning the use of the words "Super Bowl"? WTF? you tags, goodell and the rest of the mental midgets that compromise the league offices.
smokinandjokin Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I'll bet if they had a giant TV screen showing the game in a GM plant, the NFL wouldn't be sending threatening letters. Thiiiis is Ouuuuuurrrrr Counnnttry!
\GoBillsInDallas/ Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league's long-standing policy is to ban "mass out-of-home viewing" of the Super Bowl. Well, technically they're not breaking the law, since Baptists have a "service" and not a "mass".
Fezmid Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Uhhhh...what? There's a 55" limit on the size of the TV you can show the Super Bowl on? Don't tell the NFL that I'm going to be watching the game on my 110" screen
IDBillzFan Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 The NFL is definitely getting too full of itself. Banning the use of the words "Super Bowl"? WTF? you tags, goodell and the rest of the mental midgets that compromise the league offices. I suspect this is Goodell screwing around with enforcement. Did you see Chris Brown's blog about Goodell's idea to put headsets in the helmets of the entire offense so they can hear snap counts and audibles over the crowd noise? "I love the 12th man," Goodell said. "I love the fact that home fans can influence the game. I'm not trying to take that away. I'm just trying to let our teams perform at the highest possible level in a way that will allow our fans to enjoy the experience as much as possible."
The Avenger Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Don't tell the NFL that I'm going to be watching the game on my 110" screen That's TWICE the limit! Somebody fine that man...twice!
Arkady Renko Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 It's not like the NFL is hosting its own viewing parties for the Super Bowl. The make money on the rights fees and the networks make money on the ads to pay the networks. Whether someone watches the ad among 200 or just 2, shouldn't make a difference.
VABills Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 That's TWICE the limit! Somebody fine that man...twice! Actually it's four times. You figure it out and get back to me when you figure out basic geometry. BTW, I will be showing it on a 106" screen in HD.
buckeyemike Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 I am about two more of these moves away from permanently defecting to the CFL.
