Buffalo Baumer Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 and with 2100 people on the waiting list for Sabres Season tickets, they aren't going to get far in line at HSBC Its been said here many times before, people have a hotpocket mentality these days. They want results now, and will not wait. (and don't start with the 7 years since a playoff game BS, cause the current regime had no control over that) They are going into year 2 of a rebuilding process with a new coach and gm The current regime IS Ralph Wilson. How can you say that the current regime has nothing to do with it. Who do you think hired GMs who in turn hired crap coach after crap coach?
apuszczalowski Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 The current regime IS Ralph Wilson. How can you say that the current regime has nothing to do with it. Who do you think hired GMs who in turn hired crap coach after crap coach? And he went 5 years with a high priced GM that was supposed to turn things around You can't always pick winners and it takes time to find out who is successful and who isn't. You don't just hire a guy and one offseason later know that this guy is a winner or a loser Maybe Ralph stayed with TD a year or 2 too long, but its hardly his fault, TD had a 5 year plan that didn't work

This team has been rebuilding since Jim Kelly and Marv retired. Best chance we had was when Flutie was in but Ralph didn’t like him after he won us about 10 straight and yanked him in the wildcard. Tommy D (who I don’t like) did not do that bad of a job in Pittsburgh. That team was in the playoffs a ton and made one Super Bowl run. He was a disaster in Buffalo ( but who is to say Ralph didn’t play a role in that) Ralph’s problem is... 1. He hires nickel and dime coaches who are worth $%^..................... Same problems year after year... Dick has already ruined us a couple of ball games! (Field Goal anyone?) 2. Takes him 12 years to figure out the Oline is bad? How long does it take him to realize he has a turtle head poking? 3. Getting Marv as a GM does not do nothing... Old Buffalo hero in a new job he has never worked before (bad call but great for his $$$) Hotpocket Mentality? What Bills team have you been watching? Or are you one of those people who post "the game positives" after every loss? The future of this team hangs on one thing........... THIS OFFSEASON!!!! CRAP OR GET OFF THE POT RALPH!!!!
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 in free agency. It is going to get very ugly if he does not open the wallet up after raising the price per ticket following ANOTHER non playoff year. I hope he knows what he is doing!! Although it is still the cheapest ticket in the league, it is still one of the worst products. If he wants fans to open up the wallet, he had better be ready to do the same. This move won't change what we will do in free agency. Remember it's not how good a player is, it's how good his character is. So far this is working. STAY THE COURSE!
generaLee83 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Wow, so insightful - do you always have this kind of etiquette when dealing with opinions? Get a grip punk.... Protard has great etiquette

You do realize that for the last 5 years, TD was team president and GM. So he was in charge of building the team and selecting the coaches. Ralph trusted a guy who had a great resume and was a very high profile hire (and probably wasn't cheap). Also, it's worth noting that Lovie Smith was one of the lowest paid coaches in the NFL. So, I guess the Bears just nickle and dime their coaches too, huh? Bottomline, TD hired two first time head coaches and the Bills paid them accordingly. Unfortunately, he hired Greggo and MM instead of John Fox and Charlie Weis. But it wasn't about $, it was just about stupidity. As for the Marv hire, after going the route most "experts" and internet geeks wanted by hiring TD, he decided to do his own thing. And whether or not Marv is simply a figure head, his first draft yielded starters at SS, FS, DT, and RT. Not too shabby. And for the record, DJ was a coach of the year and a runner-up in a 7-9 with QBs by the names of McNown, Matthews, Miller, and Stewart. I think it was more a GM problem in Chi-town than a DJ problem. As for the original question, the Bills owe the fans a winner. But you don't build a winner by making offseason headlines with big name FA siginings (see Danny Boy in Wash). You build through the draft and adding quality FAs to create depth. And right now, it seems the Bills are well on their way.
Nanker Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I think any fan that's upset at the new prices for tickets in view of the fact that the team hasn't made the playoffs for years should not buy any tickets at all until the team finally does reach the playoffs. Heck, it's not just your right, it's your obligation as a die-hard fan. They should stay home and try to see the games on TV. That way they'll have nothing to complain about, and if The Bills home games are all blacked out, at least they'll be able to see their eight away games for free and still, they will have nothing to complain about. It's simple really. If you feel you're being taken, then don't buy into the process. It will lower your anxiety, blood pressure and give you a better sense of well being. But, then of course they will have to STFU said with a kind and genteel manner of course. Oh yeah - quick edit - Naming rights to the stadium would yield 2-3 million per year - maybe. Ooooh! The big name free agents will be knocking down our door to sign for a piece of that! I think Coy Wire got a $2 million signing bonus.

Weren't the Bears also fighting with him trying not to give him big money in an extension earlier?
The_Philster Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Know what... This team has been rebuilding since Jim Kelly and Marv retired. Best chance we had was when Flutie was in but Ralph didn’t like him after he won us about 10 straight and yanked him in the wildcard.! Yeah..he disliked him so much that he gave him a big contract after 98 and he was still under contract with a cheap deal for 99 Damn...I wish someone disliked me that much. Couple things The defense won a lot of those games in 99...Flutie cost us a few and came close to costing us more. He struggled mightily during the 99 season. He started working his way out of it at the end of the season, however. But with nothing to play for, Wade felt comfortable putting RJ in for that Indy game...he played well, Wade was given the OK, not the order, to make the switch. Sorry to spoil a reason to hate the owner of the Bills, but making false accusations of the man is rather pathetic, IMO. Ralph was a big fan of Flutie..but after seeing that we had another QB who actually could play well (at least for a game), he gave his blessing, not order, to make the switch. I've yet to see a single solitary report that he ordered the switch...just a bunch of people in love with the midget who hate Ralph for allowing Wade to make a switch that might've been a good switch to make...a month earlier...but wasn't made because Wade wasn't going to piss off the boss by benching the guy who "saved the franchise" a year earlier and was rewarded handsomely by Ralph.
